Treating characters as... well, characters, is pretty much my default approach. I always end up obsessing over why they behave the way they do, what role they serve in the story, how different incarnations fit together, and what the writers were actually trying to communicate. It's probably inevitable that it turns into essays — another favourite activity of mine lol.
I'm really glad all of that resonates with people, because these characters tend to mean a lot to me and I put a ridiculous amount of thought into them. Having Pete as an outlet for all that energy has been incredibly rewarding, and seeing other people enjoy my perspective is honestly one of the best parts of sharing it.
And thank you for reading the analysis! I had an absolute blast writing it, so it's especially nice to hear it landed with someone who also enjoys looking at Pete as a genuine, multifaceted character rather than just a walking gag.
