Bartok looks so happy and healthy in the most recent pictures. I'm glad he's found a home that's able and willing to take care of him.

So I feel like I've missed something Can I just ask, what's Bartok's story? 😺

bartok was found alone as a very young baby by a family who then took him in. we ended up with him because they realized they couldn't care for him.

We do not mind being asked questions about how we raised/raise kittens, especially bottle babies, or about Bartok's current health/status or about any of our current or past feline overlords that we live with! 

Please do not be discouraged, you can ask us anything! We just do no like the spread of misinformation or people who accuse us or other bottle baby raisers of snatching kittens from their mom. 

If a foster parent is raising a kitten, especially one as young or younger than Bartok was, it is mostly due to the fact that there were extreme circumstances that left the kitten defenseless or motherless. Never take a kitten if a momma is still around, and always make sure you are 100% certain before concluding that the kitten is alone. 

Bartok, in his case, was found alone in a persons backyard, and they owned a dog who would have killed him. They wanted their young children to raise him, and brought him to a pet store to ask advice. 

A coworker of mine intercepted, had them bring the kitten to the in store vet, and called us to come get him. As soon as the mother heard she would have to stimulate his butt to get him to poop, she was no longer interested. 

He is also a runt, and possessed a rare fur condition. At four months, he is still very small for his age, and he still requires cat (or rather) dog clothing to keep himself from getting chilly. He was completely alone, malnourished, and would not have survived outdoors, nor through this fall. 

We own a lot of medically disabled animals, like our maine coon who suffers from seizures and a neurological condition, and have many many vets and 24 hour vet hospitals at our disposal. I promise this kitten is in very good hands. 

So please do not be swayed by misinformation! And if you have a question, feel free to ask!

Is Bartok named after Bela Bartok?

we named him after the little bat from the movie "Anastasia" :)

How did you come up with his name? Kudos to you guys for being original and not naming him Mr. Fluffy.

Takkun is named after a cat character with the same name! He was another rescue, and he is our medically disabled cat who all the kittens that pass through always seem to love.

He has his own blog, though its a bit old.

In these recent pictures you are posting, Bartok almost looks like a Bombay as his fur grows in. Would you agree at all, or do you have other ideas about his (extraterrestrial) background?

YOU ARE ONTO SOMETHING!! Because of his fur being so sparse and his skin condition for so long I didn’t even consider Bombay being a possibility. 

He really does look like a lil Bombay kitten now! 

I guess we’ll see when he grows up if he shows more of the Bombay traits! 

HOWEVER he is not all black, so that may negate this. He has a white stripe down his back/on his tail. :/
