Alright, so maybe it was a bad idea to attempt to fight Horntail by himself, Evan bitterly mused. He had thought himself capable enough to be able to hold off on his own, since he had been training quite a bit on his end. Maybe that was true. Maybe that wasn’t.
However, he wouldn’t have the chance to test this out, as he was unlucky enough to run into Leviathan, which managed to land a lucky strike on the brunet. He staggered, managing to retaliate with a combined attack from both himself and Mir. However, the creature seemed to be much smarter than the others of its race, and dodged the well-aimed spell. Joy.
If Evan had a choice, he wouldn’t even bother trying to cause harm to dragons, as he loved all of them. But the creatures under Horntail’s reign were an exception; they were hostile and they brought danger to Leafre. As a hero, he was responsible for keeping the townspeople safe. But with the nasty gash running down the length of his side, the teen couldn’t even stand on his own, much less efficiently fight and defeat the creature.
He thought that perhaps his end had finally come due to his carelessness. Watching Mir struggle against the creature made the brunet feel worse, and he was about to just give up right then and there when the arrival of another gave him pause.
“Aren’t you--” he began, recognition brightening his azure hues before his words faltered, a crease forming on his forehead in response to the pain he was feeling.
