if they make it to the year 1917 in mm do you think they'll do an episode on the halifax explosion

I think? we’re in ~1913 current season. (source: end of S5 was 1900)

That would mean 4 more years of Murdoch…. which idk if I could handle that many more seasons LOL.

On the other hand as a nerdy 10yr old who learned about the Halifax explosion and became obsessed would love to see it mentioned. Esp now that George is out in the east coast it could be an interesting story line with him.

Just saw an old ask of yours (like around season 10 probably) where you said you didn't want Watts to become a major character and idk man. might need to #cancel you for that one /j

I hope they do one more season for two reasons. 1. I need more Watts, him not even being mentioned in the season finale killed me and if that ends up being the end of the show I'm going to cry about it forever. 2. I need them to do a titanic episode so. Like I need them to do one. I need to see how they would make it relevant to the main characters

(NGL my first thought upon seeing that Julia is actually moving to London was "this is they're setting up for a titanic episode" (which is perhaps a bit morbid but I don't think they'd actually have any characters actually die I think it would just be chaotic))

I think they will have at least another season. PM is notorious for wanting to provide extravagant / intense finales (even tho he often misses the mark) this finale despite the cliffhanger did not have the signature PM trademark imo. I hope when the series does come to an end we do get a worth-wild finish. Expecting another 2 parter finale finish.

To respond to your reasons:

1. YES I NEED MORE WATTS AS WELL. I said this in my previous ask but I would love the series to end with him getting some sort of promotion or higher status within Station House 4.

2. According to messages on the Murdoch FB fan page - doesn’t sound like PM is interested in doing another Titanic episode (see S07E01). My thought is maybe they’ll do a subplot where William hears of the ship sinking and believes Julia & Susannah are on the titanic resulting in some worry due to the lack of communication. Would be fun tho but they’ve already done the episode to an extent - also like you said they def cannot kill of Julia like that!

I am deeply disappointed that Watts wasn't even mention in either of the last two episodes, and Mrs Hart had barely any involvement. It truly felt as if the writers forgot about them. Overall this season finale felt very directionless to me. It's only saving grace is that it does seem like it was setting up for another season

nonnie I feel your pain and sadness as well.

Going in I had negative expectations for the finale it’s been seasonsss since we’ve had a good season finale / season premiere. PM really strives for these intense plot lines and cliff hangers but forget the key to the show — the MYSTERY!

Also disappointed not to see my boy watts & hart in the episodes. I will give PM a minor thumbs-up however for not including 78 different plot lines with different characters in the finale for once.

I will have to contradict you about setting up for next season I do think they’ve put in some subtle plots to carry through next season, like the “blank hand” vibe with Constable Tuckers black mailing / working with the enemy plot. But it’s definitely not a true cliffhanger ending like usual.

Heartbreaking to see Julia & William split- still not fully sure why William couldn’t go with Julia to London. Like imo a much better finale (maybe even series finale) would be having Julia & William start their new lives together in London, having Brackenreid be Chief Constable and having Crabtree & Watts take over Station House 4 as inspector & detective. I think that could wrap up the series nicely.

Anyways I’m not terribly mad at the season finale but wasn’t an interesting finale at all. I did enjoy the parallels to early show Julia x Murdoch relationship.

I’ve noticed a lot of co-producers in the credits. Due you think this is the beginning of less homophobic storylines?

I certainly hope so 🙄….. good we’re getting more producers and a better range of opinions.

I will say that the next episode Rhapsody in Blood does feature a queer plotline but it’s minor and isn’t the episodes focus. Which is GOOD- so often as soon as we get a gay mention the episode imediately shifts to the queer tragedy trope. (but oop now that I’m writing this I’m remembering [minor spoiler!] that the ‘bury your gays’ trope kinda applies in this episode… does it count if they get murdered?)

Anyhow I hope the addition of new producers and writers (pm should retire) leads the show in a better direction.

My George Crabtree withdrawals are through the roof right now where is the boy. Where is he. This is the longest he's ever been gone. Peter Mitchell is trying to kill me personally

unfortunately over the last couple years (maybe more now that im thinking) george has definitely become a less major character :((((( jonnys other show still standing (7 seasons !!!?) often conflicts with murdochs filming so we do enter those periods where george is away- his honeymoon right now, but book tours or visiting aunts in past seasons.

UPSIDE the preview for next week our baby is backkk (& so it watts w his sideburns)
