ASK
U NO WANT C ME MAD K BRO?
#AskFast2012 Day 31
Well, this is it, folks. The proverbial "end of the road" for #AskFast 2012. It's been a long and bumpy road, well for me at least. All sorts of challenges have arisen this month with health, family and finances. Did I ever want to quit and throw in the towel ( I hope you all don't mind spiritual transparency 'cause I'm like Casper right about now). This month I began feeling the ramifications for poor decisions I made last year. Ouch. And then the whispers came: fear, doubt, insecurity and uncertainty are a toxic mixture. But God... God never left. God never moved. God did not stop being God because my faith hiccuped. And when I did consider abandoning the #AskFast, the Holy Spirit came to teach me what to do. Oh, I'm grateful. There were days this month I did not know from whence my next meal was coming. Or how the bills were to be paid, or even if I was going to make it to work. I haven't been in a place like this in about 10 years or so. Why the revisit? Why the history lesson? There is nothing quite like a rear-view mirror to upgrade your praise. The rear view mirror allows you to look back just far-enough, with just enough perspective to enable you to remember without turning you into a pillar of salt. This month was my "mirror" month. So tonight I'm thankful that although I'm not where or what I want to be, I'm sure as heck not what/where I used to be. HALLELUUUUUJAHHHH! Tonight's theme song: You Deserve my Praise, Tamela Mann
#AskFast2012 Day 30
After an 18 hour day, I'm extremely grateful for a hot shower, cool bed, air conditioner, green beans with brown rice and a son who saw me drive up and came down three flights of stairs to carry my bags. Tonight I'm grateful for the little things I take for granted daily... Tonight's Theme Song: Little Things, India.Arie
#AskFast2012 Day 29
Every year that I teach faith studies I ask my kids the same question: What is prayer. Inevitably I receive the same responses: Talking to God. Telling God your problems. Asking God for help. Thanking God for help. I then launch into a silly story about friends who talk too much, never let you get a word in edgewise and NEVER listen... Then the second question: Do you ever listen for God? We teach our kids to "now-I-lay-me-down-to-sleep" and "God-bless-mommy-and-daddy-and-the-starving-kids-in-Africa" prayers, but seldom teach them to listen. And if anyone has the capacity to hear from God, it's "the littlest of these." Tonight I'm thankful for those giants of faith who taught me to listen-early; and for the honor and privilege to remind young and old of what we already knows: God speaks. Listen. Today's Theme Songs: Listen, God is Calling and What a Friend We Have in Jesus
#AskFast2012 Day 27
For fussing, pushing, warning, spanking, demanding and praying. For not taking no for an answer on Sunday morning. For quitting the bottle cold-turkey making sure I knew it was only by the grace of God. For making a joyful noise unto the Lord... Today's Theme Song: Grandma's Hand by Bill Withers (cover by Take 6)
#AskFast2012 Day 26
Today I'm overcome with gratitude for my blessings. It's just ridiculous right now how much God is keeping me in the midst of this storm. The greatest evidence I have is my son Asa. How many 17 year old boys do you who go to work to help their mom? Kiss their mom in public? Ok, maybe a few. But how many go to their mother to be prayed over, anointed with oil? Who stands and receives a prophecy, in tongues, from his mother...and BELIEVES it? This young man will change the world by his FAITH! He is already standing boldly in his test and trials, so don't sleep on his favor, and don't blink. Tonight's Theme Song (dedicated to my son Asa): Imma Do It, J Moss
#AskFast2012 Day 25
Yesterday was groovy. Just me, the boy and the dog. I jogged. We laughed. We slept. It was chilaxing and low-key enough to remind me that the best things in life are not the most expensive. I can't call my freedoms free, though, because ultimately people have fought, prayed and died for me to rest today; foremost is, of course, Jesus. And because he hung on a tree I refuse to hang my head in shame for any sin already forgiven me. So yesterday was an exercise in peace found only in the repentance, reconciliation and love of Christ. Yesterday's theme song: Thank You Jesus, Tamela Mann
#AskFast2012 Day 24
Today I'm thankful for everyone's social media freedom of speech and my social media freedom to delete and block any and everyone whose freedom of social speech turns my stomach. Some things should be confessed only to Jesus. #Seriously Today's Theme Song: Talk to Her, India Arie
