Er, why do you use the puzzle piece in your icon for a blog on autism? The puzzle piece is pretty much only used by allistics who support groups like autism speaks, and autistics don't really like the representation of the puzzle piece, i'm pretty bothered with it because it offends me
This is actually a good question.
If you’ve noticed, it’s a BLACK puzzle piece. The color itself has a lot of different meanings in literature, although most of them refer to “death” or “destruction”.
Take, for example, my favorite horror writer’s allegory to the color. In The Masque of the Red Death, Edgar Allen Poe describes the final room, which is red and black, as one that most guests avoid. Why? Red = blood and black = death. http://www.sparknotes.com/lit/poestories/section10.rhtml

So, in my mind, black puzzle piece = death to autism $peaks and organizations like it.
