Considering how little wizards know about muggle culture does that mean most of them would fall for ligma/sucondese/etc?

Is the fact that I had to google those things a sign that I’ve been extremely out of touch on the internet, or possibly a sign that I’m getting too old for this shit? Maybe both. 

Anyway, I’m sure you could pretty much say anything about muggle culture and depending on how unaware of muggles the wizard really is, they would fall for it.

I miss you guys ♥

Hi, Emily here. It’s so sweet to hear that you miss us and I miss you all too, really I do. I was just in a really bad place about a year ago and decided, sort of suddenly, that I needed to take a step away from tumblr.

I’ve been coming back on more recently but not nearly as much as I used to. I don’t know what that means for this blog... We still have some submissions that I need to post. (How would you all feel about me posting them as asks, the way they were submitted. So no formatted them as they usually are.) Once they’re all up I think I might be officially done accepting submissions. I might occasionally post my own work still.

Thank you all for understanding and for still enjoying the headcanons, they’ll always stay up here for you to see.

Would you consider recruiting another admin/curator for the blog? I don't want to see the headcanons stop, but of course it's your decision! I just thought it might be another option?

I have thought about it but at this time I’d rather not. I don’t know if my explanation will make a ton of sense but I’ll try to explain anyway... This blog means a lot to me because I built it up on my own for so long. Taking on an extra admin when Adiba joined was great but I was still actively on tumblr at the time. I was able to explain how I did things and communicate with her often.

I worry that if I were to take on another admin now, when I’m rarely on tumblr, I wouldn’t be able to have that same kind of communication. And I wouldn’t want them to do something with the blog that I’m not happy with. So I think for now it’s best not to take on extra people.

If I ever made that decision though I would likely be open to accepting applications. I’d want people who were really eager and who love the blog to be the ones to join. So we’ll see.

Not a headcanon but a reminder: old Order of Phoenix members are so awesome Voldemort himself had to fight them. Dolohov tried to fight Flitwick: keyword tried.

I know right!? The old order was full of badasses. Maybe we see less of Voldemort himself actually fighting members of the second order because he was being smarter and trying to play it safe? But I feel like the old order was just that good that he often had to go deal with them himself. All of them were really powerful witches and wizards and although they’re mentioned very little what we do have is enough proof

James and Lily Potter: do I even need to tell y’all? joined at 18, defied Voldemort himself three times, the epitome of old order badassery

Frank and Alice Longbottom: ALSO the epitome of old order badassery, they were aurors and order members who defied Voldemort himself three times. and it took FOUR of Voldemort’s top death eaters to manage to capture and torture them

Sirius Black: let’s not forget this quote “THEN YOU SHOULD HAVE DIED! DIED RATHER THAN BETRAY YOUR FRIENDS, AS WE WOULD HAVE DONE FOR YOU!” like doesn’t that just speak to how hard core some of the first order were

Remus Lupin: proves his skills in the first war, trusted so much he’s sent to live as a spy among werewolves for a period of time during the second

Gideon and Fabian Prewett: “Gideon Prewett, it took five Death Eaters to kill him and his brother Fabian, they fought like heroes…” IMAGINE THAT FOR A SECOND 

Edgar Bones: called a “great wizard” by Madeye, and Hagrid said that he and his family were “considered among the greatest wizards of all time” He and his family were killed by death eaters- his parents by Voldemort himself

Madeye Moody: he survived the first war, put a ton of people in Azkaban, rejoined the second order. and just let this badass quote from Deathly Hallows sink in “Stay in formation, everyone. Don’t break ranks if one of us gets killed.”

Marlene McKinnon: I just mentioned her in my last ask but “she was killed two weeks after this was taken, they got her whole family.“ Excuse me I’d like to meet this family so full of badasses that all of them were considered a target ok

Benjy Fenwick: idk much but this quote screams of a tough fighter to me ”he copped it too, we only ever found bits of him…“

Emmeline Vance: rejoined the second order, was a member of the Advance Guard from OOTP and died in 1996, according to her wikia page “her loss was considered a heavy blow for the Order” I imagine it’s cause she was an amazingly talented witch

others: Elphias Doge, Dedalus Diggle, and Sturgis Podmore were all members of the first order and rejoined the second order. trusted and skilled enough they were chosen for the Advance Guard that escorted Harry from Privet Drive in OOTP

Only place I've seen "Marlene" mentioned in a story was in fics. Where did you get the name from cause I have a feeling you called out one of my favourite storylines and favourite characters?

Marlene McKinnon is a canon character who was in the first Order of the Phoenix. She and her family are mentioned briefly a few times throughout the series- but not many. The most specific moment is when Madeye Moody in OOTP points her out in the photo of the original order and says, “Marlene McKinnon, she was killed two weeks after this was taken, they got her whole family.”

Of course, if I was sticking to canon in that headcanon I mentioned her in, she wouldn’t have been alive to babysit Harry. But neither would Remus and Sirius be alive at the very end to see James in the forest. So I ignored those parts because I thought that the death of James was bad enough. I almost wrote a very painful line about Lily reacting to Sirius going through the veil- cause of course Lily would’ve fought at the battle of the department of mysteries- but I kept that out so everyone could live for once (except James obviously lol)

I like to include Marlene in my writing- along with Mary Macdonald & Dorcas Meadowes but that headcanon was already really long- because I need to give Lily some girl friends and I like to think they would have been it. (Maybe even Alice Longbottom too but I headcanon her as 2 or 3 years ahead of Lily in school so they wouldn’t have interacted as much.) I think one of the big things JKR overlooked was that we get to learn so much about James through his friends but not much at all about Lily. Who were her friends and what happened to them? Of course she had to have been friends with the Marauders but what about before that? There’s a gap there. If Marlene McKinnon hadn’t been killed off, JKR could have had her return to fight again with the order during the second war. I think that would have been a really valuable relationship and given Harry a chance to learn a lot about his mother. Anyway, I’m not salty about it at all

the thing is: lily begged voldemort to kill her, whilst james was ready to fight for lily and harry. obviously it was a sacrifice, bc he had no chance to win whatsoever, but the motivation is very different; lily gave up her life willingly, james didn't. which is why voldemort got wrecked by lily and not james. it still is a interessant headcanon

Yes I know that- and for the anon who asked the question in the first place, here’s the answer! James was always going to die but Lily had a choice to step aside and still didn’t, that was the difference. But of course instead of just explaining that I decided to roll with a headcanon idea of Lily surviving to raise Harry because I like my jily with a side of pain lol
