Random thoughts + sneak peak of Gunpowder and Cocoa chapter 26
Y’know after seeing some fanart of Dessriel and thinking it was cute, I figured that I should incorporate it into my fic too!
…problem is that I have literally no idea on how to do that, I already introduced Rudy and Carol in the earlier chapters to be around Asriel’s age
Ah I'll figure something out.
Oh yeah I guess here's a sneak peak of the next chapter of Gunpowder and Cocoa
Chara pushed through the doors, the familiar creak greeting them as they stepped inside. Clover followed close behind, letting the door swing shut.
As they made their way toward the front, Clover glanced around, brow furrowing.
"It's so... dull?" They said, confused.
Chara looked around as well, equally puzzled. Their orphanage had never been a particularly colorful place, but it certainly hadn't been painted in endless shades of gray.
"I think..." Chara hesitated. "I might have something to do with it."
Clover turned to them, raising an eyebrow. "Whaddya mean?"
"Clover," Chara began, "when you viewed the other Soulbearer’s memories, were they aware you were watching them?"
Clover tilted their head in thought before saying, "I don't think so, why?"
"I think my Determination may have been unintentionally restricting which memories we could see," Chara explained. "That would explain why they've been so–"
Clover scoffed. "Don't act like those weren't bad either."
Chara blinked, momentarily caught off guard, before rolling their eyes. "Compared to this, they were relatively tame."
Clover folded his arms. "Maybe to you. But that doesn't make it okay." His expression hardened. "I don't care if you think it was tame. It was still awful that it happened, and it shouldn't have–!"
"Are you lecturing me?" Chara interrupted, glaring at the cowpoke.
Clover met their stare without flinching. "Maybe if you'd stop being so dumb, I wouldn't have to."
Chara huffed. "Need I remind you who's allowing you to be here?"
Clover's shoulders sagged. He broke eye contact, the irritation fading into something milder. "It's just..." he murmured. "I don't like that you're so used to being treated like that."
A beat of silence passed over them.
He looked back up at them.
"I care about you a lot. You know that, right?"
Chara quickly looked away. "...I suppose I have been rather callous about everything that's happened."
A small laugh escaped Clover. "Yeah." They rubbed the back of their neck. "And... I'm sorry too. I shouldn't have called you dumb."
"Obviously…" Chara muttered. They weren’t sure of what to feel about this.
It's a bit short, but do know that progress within this chapter writing wise is going smoothly. I should be able to get it out in 15 days if everything goes smoothly.
