i feel like reylos are basically the absolute masters of Reading A Gaze after all those years of hardcore training and like. i didn't even get the romance tingles from it. i genuinely don't see it - i found their moment(s) even less romantically ambiguous than jyn and cassian at the end of rogue one.
AND YET! i am so fcking annoyed by all the whining about ~icky selfcest~ that i'm like, straight up willing to force myself to make it an otp.
like seriously? they are two completely different characters, their individual identities diverged so long ago that the fact that they're only barely technically the same person at this point is literally brought up multiple times. they're not identical or fraternal twin siblings, treating selfcest like Incest Lite™ is a blatant disregard of the entire concept of individual identity.
plus, i have real selfcest ships (like dirkhal from hmstck) whose point of divergence is canonically relatively recent, so i'm genuinely insulted people are putting sylkie on that level. like damn, y'all really are sheltered if you think SYLKI is The Epitome Of Evil Selfcest.
