Ahhhhh Keshika thank you so much 🥺🥺 I hope you know you’re one of my favourite people to follow
hi! so i was going thru your blog (stalker, i know 👀) and i came across a few posts you'd reblogged abt the mara dyer trilogy. i've never heard of it. should i read it? and is she of indian descent... as in from india?
Hey keshika!
Mara is half Indian! Her mother is Indian and her father is white. It’s been 8 years since I read the books actually so my memory of them is limited and I’ll be honest I don’t remember how well her Indian heritage is portrayed in the books. In other words how respectful the use of Indian culture is vs fetishising or stereotyping it?
Again it’s been a while for me but I do remember that the books are fully cognisant of her Indian roots and her family’s past is deeply intertwined with the plot.
What I can recommend of the books is the morally grey female protagonist who’s fucked up and knows it and the boy who falls in love with her. The books are dark but beautifully written and uncompromisingly funny. Mara is feral and Noah is so charming he permanently fucked me up.
The series is at its core a love story but it’s coloured with the mystery of whether or not Mara is a murderer and I think that’s pretty sexy of Michelle Hodkin tbh.
I’ll leave u with this quote
He could never use you. You own him. You should’ve seen the way he was looking at you while you were out.”
I smiled a little. “How?”
“Like you’re the ocean and he’s desperate to drown.
I also really enjoyed the invisible man!
I liked it so much more than I thought I would!! Cecelia killing her abuser using his own technology and house against him? Walking out the house in a black dress, dog at her heels? Chef’s kiss
