hi!! i really like your genshin oc and it's pushing me to make my own ;7; may i ask if there's anything that inspired their design?
Hi anon! I'm really glad that you like my Genshin OC! They're technically my second one, in fact—I have another one who's a Cryo but haven't touched upon in ages. I should probably revisit 'em soon LMAO
Yes, actually! Caylao's design is heavily influenced by various pre-colonial/indigenous Phillippines attire and is a blend of elements from different groups. For example, the face paint that you see on Caylao is based off the same face paint sported on by the Yakan people.
Additionally, the upper half of their outfit is derived motif-wise from pre-colonial Visayan clothing.
The lower half of Caylao's design, the skirt, is based on the skirt worn by women of the Igorot people—called a lufid
Caylao's arm tattoos (they're kind of outdated on the reference, my apologies JDJFJSJD I do have a more detailed and updated reference of their tattoos in my Toyhouse for them) are based on the Visayan "batok" tattoo designs.
So yeah, a lot of the design inspo honestly came from the indigenous ends of my culture! ;7; 💕
are we allowed to draw art of your God Complex Trickster skin? i think it looks really cool, and i really hope it wins!
oh man hi anon!! thank you so much, but like i still said, i really doubt it's going to win either way. there's a whole lot of other worthy contestants who deserve it—i was mostly just in it to give it a shot, for a lack of better word. ;7;
you're more than welcome to draw art of my God Complex Trickster skin, but please be sure to credit the design to me and don't claim it as your own making! additionally, i'd really love if you tag or mention me in it so i can see it!! 💕💕
Since Euphemia wears a mask on all three of her faces, do the other two that are grown off the side of her head look the same as her original face?
Considering the Entity mutated Euphemia to develop two extra heads which represent her shattered identity, technically yes the two extra heads are still the same as her original face and aren't very much different! They're all her.
Her heads do exhibit different emotions, though. Euphemia's right head lingers more on the aggressive, angrier emotions while her left head is more on the somber, sad, depressed emotions. Her main head is kinda more on the gleeful, happy emotions. All of her heads kinda convey these things in various ways, though. However, they also tend to clash with one another as a result of Euphemia's withered sanity. ;w;
Hey, I'm the anon! I wanted to say that I'm sorry, I meant no insult to your art, I actually greatly admire your art. All I was concerned with was the skin tone, not the hair on anything, I've been a fan of kpop for years now so I know they often dye their hair haha. I understand what you say about him being lightskinned, and I sincerely apologise for any offence caused! :)
Hey, anon! Thank you so much for clarifying things, and your apology is accepted. I was genuinely a bit concerned if my design was somehow whitewashing the Trickster in some way after I saw your question, but since I wasn't really provided with an elaborate reason, I didn't exactly know where to go or how to respond.
And yeah, Asians have various skin tone after all. I typically draw Jiwoon with fair skin because that's how his skin complexion appears in his in-game model. However, I obviously don't color his skin way too pale than it should be. I'm from the Asian community myself as well as a casual listener of Kpop, so I'm very familiar with the concept of whitewashing.
Either way, I'm very glad that things have been cleared up between the both of us! 😊 I apologize on my behalf if I somehow came off as brash or rude in my initial response—I was genuinely confused and really didn't know how to go about responding, so I said what I felt I had to say.
i hope this doesnt bother you but we were so inspired by your ji-woon and yun-jin au that me and a friend started our own private rp server where we just share ideas and rp so thank you for your amazing art :')
Hi anon! 💕
You're not a bother in the slightest. I'm actually really touched to hear that my art for my AU inspired you both, and it genuinely means a whole lot! So thank you for liking my work!
Likewise, I hope you two are having fun sharing your cool ideas and RPs with eachother!
I'm sorry but the trickster skin is concerning. You've drawn him white?
Um, no? He's still Korean, the only thing that I changed was... his hair color. His hair color in my design is blonde because I'm very certain he wears hair dye anyways in his original design, so I didn't see any harm in changing up the color.
