Ahem.
For me highlighter sketches are deffo a must when I’m sketchbooking 🙂↕️. For me it really helps to block out the big base shapes when I’m getting a general sense of the pose, composition, anatomy, etc. while also making sure I’m not getting tunnel vision on any particular part.
Ex:
If I’m being honest my lineart is much more of a sketch than anything super clean lol. I try to be pretty loose where I can while generally following that first highlighter guideline. This same process also applies overall to my digital Freeform doodles so there’s that too 🦐👍
Ex:
Fully colored trad stuff has a sligggggghtly different process since I’m using more pencil and alcohol marker rather than highlighters, but it’s also more or less the same except being a lot more careful with my lineart lolol
There’s also just my doodles, but atp it’s kinda just based on muscle memory, anatomy and perspective studies, and a ton of simplifying to make my process go super super quick 💪🦐
