What is your all-time favorite piece of classic art?
My personal favorite is Death and Life by Gustav Klimt from 1915.
I'm a fan of portraits of death in art. It's fascinating to me how many different ways artists make personification of this... 'stage of life', let's say.
The painting also has so many wonderful patterns. The contrast of colors. The cold and dark for death, meanwhile, the 'life part' is so vivid, with warm colors. I'm a big fan of horror vacui. (It's the Latin term for 'fear of empty space' in art).
I feel like death is waiting for those characters from the right side since they were born. Like death is the only certain thing in life. Thing that never change. It always was, is, and will be.
