What is the fantasy trope you are most tired of?
The ‘Fat, apathetic greedy/greasy upper caste villain’
You know the type, Lavishly rich, lazy, Fat for the sake of displaying their excessive lifestyle and greed/gross over consumption. Usually they’re in a position of power/privilege-usually put there directly or indirectly in a way that would make them comfortable- but for some reason completely lacking in self control, empathy or morals.
It enforces a lot of shitty fatphobic views of bigger folks (Dirty, greedy,lack of self control, unambitious, immoral) while basically using their size as a prop to just emphasize those bad qualities. It doesn’t really give people who are similarly shaped any kind of positive representation, making immersion all but impossible (Which is why I lose interest in a lot of fantasy novels- The bad buys are described as fat, disgusting and greed,y while the good guys are fit, lithe and athletic.)
