So I have like a dozen questions for the ML x KH AU but I'll start off with a few, LOL. Is the idea that each Guardian of Light Keyblade is now bassed off of a miraculous? If so, which characters keybalde is based off which Kwami? To make sure I understand correctly, Heartless bosses would basically be akumatized citizens? Do Sora and Kairi know each other secret?

Glad you’re enjoying the madness! XD Honestly this is pretty half-baked...but Andrea and I had a blast discussing the possibilities. Here’s everything we know!

Yes, each keyblade functions like a miraculous and has an associated kwami. Heartless bosses would indeed be akumatized citizens. (People who give in to their negative emotions often find themselves visited by a messenger dusk with an irresistible offer.) Defeated Heartless release a small white butterfly as the citizen returns to normal.

Kairi lives with her grandmother, who runs a bakery famous for its star-shaped Papou macaroons. She was given the Keyblade of Luck and Creation by Master Mickey, keeper of the Miracle Box. Her keyblade blends as a small bracelet when she’s not acting as Ladybug, and her kwami is...Goofy.

Sora attends the same school as Kairi, but he doesn’t know she is Ladybug. (Similar to Miraculous Ladybug, identities are a secret). He grew up in an orphanage with Riku, his best friend, until Riku was adopted by the famous inventor Ansem. Mickey gave Sora the Keyblade of Chaos and Destruction, the compliment to Kairi’s blade and equally as powerful. Sora’s kwami is Donald.

Riku is a talented inventor in his own right, which is why Ansem adopted him. He wields the stolen Keyblade of Emotion as Xehanort’s right-hand man...until he realizes his bitterness is consuming him and has a near-death change of heart. He discovers Sora’s identity, but doesn’t tell him. He has the peacock Kwami. Not sure who fits there just yet.

Xehanort has no wife to bring back. Instead, he wants to assemble the x blade and resurrect Organization 13. The original members were holders of the Miracle Box...until they abused their power and fell to darkness.

Master Mickey is now the protector of the box and lives in hiding. Occasionally he trains Sora and Kairi, but these occasions are rare. He himself only received partial training from his master, Yen Sid.

So I’m curious about the ladybug au of yours. How do like the wayfinders and the sea salt quartet fit in?

Heheh! I wonder that myself.

Well, Roxas, Namine, and Xion are probably classmates of Sora and Kairi’s, with Roxas and Namine filling a similar role as Alya and Nino. Namine eventually has the Keyblade of Illusion (fox miraculous), and Roxas has the Keyblade of Protection (turtle). Xion might fill the place of Kagami? Except she would have the snake miraculous, the Keyblade of Intuition.

I am pretty sure Axel has the dragon miraculous, the Keyblade of Perfect Fire. He’s kind of his own thing, since he’s too old to be in school with the rest of them. He might have stolen his miraculous from Mickey a few years ago. Axel is a chaotic neutral party, leaning toward good as time goes on. He has a grudge against Xehanort.

As for the wayfinder trio...uhm. Probably Aqua has the rabbit miraculous, the Keyblade of Time. And she accidentally locked herself and Ventus in a time paradox of some kind, which conveniently ends up dumping them into Sora and Kairi’s timeline. Terra, uh, well. Original holder of the moth miraculous who got norted by Ansem/Xehanort? And Vanitas...I don’t even know. Maybe he’s like Lila, hahaha!

This probably goes without asking but I'm guessing in this AU, Sora and Kairi are actually equals unlike how ML claim that but Chat Noir/Adrien is treated as a sidekick?

As for the love square/triangle (didn't expect Riku to be involve) how does that work? Like who has a crush on who/what the dynamic of each?

I'm also a bit confused about Riku situation. He's adopted by Ansem due to his technological skills but how does that lead him to assisting a super villain that constantly terrorize everyone?

And why make Sora and Riku orphans? Sorry for all the questions, I just have a lot 😅

Yep, they would be equals! This is an AU where Kairi plays an active part, as does Sora when he is Chat Noir.

Sora has a crush on Ladybug. Kairi likes Sora and is conflicted by his flirting as Chat. Riku likes Kairi but he knows she only has eyes for Sora. This is part of his bitterness toward the world in general (kinda like KH1). Kairi knows she friendzoned him, but Riku doesn’t talk much and she doesn’t want to make things more awkward than they need to be. Sora, of course, is oblivious to all of this.

Why orphans? Because this is all being made up on the spot 😆 Mostly, I made Riku and Sora orphans for ease of story meshing. Parents complicate everything further, and this way I could make sure they grew up together like brothers. I kinda split aspects of Adrien into both Riku and Sora. Riku has Ansem/Xehanort as a cold father figure who values what Riku can do (to help further his research), but not so much Riku himself. Sora gets to experience the thrill of adventure as Chat, but he lacks a lot of maturity and emotional intelligence in day to day life.

Why does Riku help Ansem? Because Ansem gives him the broken peacock miraculous as “a test of his skills” and manipulates Riku into believing this is all in the name of research. Perhaps Riku even believes it’s just a simulation at first? Either way, Riku idolizes Ansem and sees this as a way to earn his approval. Somewhere along the line, he figures out that these “experiments” have real consequences. Especially after he finds out Sora is Chat.

Honestly, this AU wasn’t meant to be taken too seriously, lol. It’s just a one-shot of silliness! Glad you enjoyed it, though. Feel free to expand/adapt the concept as you see fit.
