3. what’s your favorite candle scent?
clean fresh smells! usually this ends up being something ocean themed or featuring salt heavily. i generally find scented candles overwhelming so they have to be very like natural smelling. but a good oceanic theme is very comforting to me!

23. favorite piece of clothing?
probably one of my t shirts.. i love dvd / cinema release tie in t shirts i think they're so goofy but also like. some of the best merch for interests u can get and im wearing out my new Wallace and Gromit tee today! fit wise its probably my mountain goats motorbike tee bc the wheels go perfectly over my tits with my piercings as the wheel spokes and i think that's so funny... anyway wallace and Gromit curse of the wererabbit dvd release tie in t shirt.... all time purchase
So what is the double
it's a cdrama! fun fact about me is that parallel to other things i am almost always watching a telenovela/melodrama. i like high stakes i like big twists i like overacting!! this one is a melodrama and i think does get a little ridiculous in places but overall follows an internal logic and external theatrical framework that imo works well for the suspension of disbelief etc etc!
basic plot summary is about a woman who has been wronged by her husband assuming the identity of a dead noblewoman, who has been wronged by her family, and seeking justice and revenge for both of them. it deals primarily with the injustices of women, and imo in a way that really enters into the feelings of grief and unfairness that being repeatedly hurt by the people that claim to protect to can leave you with. what stuck out to me particularly was the sense of loss our protagonist+her identity feel as they deal with the years lost to being hurt and used. while individual schemes may or may hold up to your own inspection, the strength of the characterisation really sells it for me. naturally this leads to a very strong romantic storyline, as i think the writers really understand their two romantic leads, why they seek eachother out, and how they compliment eachother. the actors have wonderful chemistry and their performance in certain quieter scenes !!! waaaahhh!!!!!
not to mention the costuming!!! gorgeous AND used to convey character and thematic progression!!! lots of fun!! AND the set design!! again super gorgeous! not to mention the cinematography which is gloriously indulgent and isn't afraid to lean into the melodrama and heightened reality of the series!
i think it's a wonderful example of sincere tv!! which in a moment where even melodramas aren't immune from winking at the camera to tell the audience that the writers also think this is all silly, is really refreshing to me!! genre tv that clearly loves its genre!!!
it's definitely not going to be to everyone's taste but it recently finished releasing on (uk) netflix! perfect time to give it a go! also!! shout-out to the main song! which is still stuck in my head and is so breathtakingly lovely!!!

6 and 22 for the end of year asks! how’s the bookshop?
the bookshop is so crazy cold and ive already used my hour of heating and it's just completely dissipated into the single glazed bay windows and ten ft ceilings... BUT a very nice woman came in to donate a book and we got to talk about diaries and letters and journals which was Very Fun!! i even got to recommend May Sarton's Journal Of Solitude and get a rec in return!
6. Episode of tv or webisode that defined the year for you?
difficult to say especially bc I am currently in my wolf hall hole but it feels disingenuous to say that wolf hall has the episode of the year considering this interest is all of two weeks old. an infant in my arms and not yet a deciding player.... (the wolf hall episode would be 1.2 btw) so with that in mind probably the bear 2.6, the christmas episode. season 2 of the bear of SUPREMELY DISAPPOINTING to me, genuinely killed so much of what i enjoyed about S1 and went way too hard into wanking over fine dining for my tastes however that episode of tv so genuinely eats and wears at me. incredible. stomach twisting, aching, visceral type of tv.
22. Favorite place you visited this year?
saltburn by the sea in early march(? time uncertain) . cold and grey. shade of blue that barely even touches. ruddy cliffs cut out without any beauty or grandeur. scrub brush and heather still rusted from winter. wind that bites etc etc etc. VASTLY over priced fish and chips you have no idea and this incredible vintage mart (cash only if you go) with the most incredible collection of furs and Victorian novelty forks and knives (the inspo for that jopson painting i did actually!) as a landscape it was super still while still feeling alive? kind of like a muscle that's being held tense! passed these hunks of rotting industry on the journeys to and fro and the beach is sort of pinchered between the rip of cliffside and the dismal hum and glow of the redcar industrial strip. this horrible little victorian pleasure beach clutching to joviality. genuinely saltburn in the off season is my favourite animal. they finally restored the Victorian trolley btw if you go and it's a must ride at least once but it only runs on the weekends during late autumn/winter/early spring

2. lighter or matches?
lighter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its rainy and humid where i live and im never in waterproofs like i ought so matches will just get damp and unusable in my pockets or ill sit wrong and snap the matchbook.. i did try to be a matchbook person it just didn't work out
21. something you’ve kept since childhood?
tricky!!! we moved so so often and things usually got lost in the various shuffles.. i think i have my first two teddies still but they're stored to keep them from decaying in my mold room OH and i have a cross and t shirt i got at jesus camp!! exciting momentoes i know
33. the last adventure you’ve been on?
not a true adventure but last saturday was a classic summer saturday!! pretty summer clothes like long skirt and sandals wandering through the neighbouring fields which i haven't seen properly for years! little impossible changes!!! they moved a stream ever so slightly!! got caught in a real summer storm and fled to the village to attend the scout fete and helped them mop up leaks and rain for a hour or two, bought my little brothers (scouts) lunch, and then back up the hill home with groceries!! maybe not adventurous but made me feel like storybook character! hobbitesque. pleasant!

these are some pictures of the actual beach (and surrounding beaches) with which i grew up and literally nothing will compare to its beauty and violence and dear god those blues and greens!!! that green where the waves break was my first love of colour and what first got me drawing man i would sit with my crayons and try to get it right…. she has almost killed me many times but it’s not my time yet! i love her so much i literally have dreams where im under her waters again and it feels like home
