Hello!!! 🦎 Im also a kobold (!!! 🐽 !!!) & I work for a dragon whos normally very confident but is privately very shy & Ive been thinking about the dynamic of a shy dragon & a confident kobold but am at a loss as how to apply this to help my big dragon or bring this up at all!!! Do u have any thoughts that could assist a confident and helpful kobold in being the strength that their dragon needs??? 🐉 🦎
YES oh I am SO glad you stopped by! Also apologies for the late reply!
As a kobold, I'm sure you likely already do sooooo much for your dragon! But, here's some extra tricks I'd suggest that might make a good impact too, if you aren't doing them already!
A loooot of dragons REALLY like hearing about how awesome and powerful and mighty they are. Being your dragon's kobold, you should definitely do what you can to ensure that they NEVER forget their own awesomeness!!!
There's multiple different applications for praise, like after something difficult was done, but also just in the moment unprompted! I would advise not just praising your dragon, but finding which application is most rewarding, then really singing your heartfelt praises to them when it hits the hardest!
At the end of the day, you may find that your dragon just generally might always have times where their confidence is a little short in supply, and it's important that they know that they're no bit less incredible for it!
Some dragons I know also fear their "less ideal" dragon traits aren't acceptable to others, like being "lazy or indecisive or greedy" and such. And I say it's their dragon right to be those things, and I love them all the same for it!
Make their position a powerful one:
Imagine you and your dragon orders something at a restaurant, but when the food comes to your table, they got your dragon's order wrong!
Your dragon in this hypothetical moment is feeling too shy to bring this up, and you instead talk to the staff and get the order fixed yourself
Your dragon might feel bad that their weak little kobold had to be the assertive one for them, but what if we thought about it differently?
While some may interpret it that way, I PERSONALLY would interpret it instead that your dragon is just so awesome and mighty that they don't NEED to be the assertive one! They have their silly little kobold there to be it for them!
Re-contextualizing situations like this can go a long way, not just in helping a dragon feel better in the short term, but also in changing their mindset and fully realizing their power! I highly recommend it!
Thank you so much for the ask, and sorry again about the late reply! Thank you for stopping by, and I hope you and your dragon find this advice useful!!! 🙏🥰
