What motivates Curufinwë, and what terrifies him, mortal?
((Okay, I'll answer this since I think it will help to bring any newcomers up to speed with Curufin's characterization, and I don't think it will hurt him too bad in the RP, hee hee:
Curufin's biggest motivation is his desire to not commit the same mistakes in his first life. Because he knew very early on that his father loved him the most from his siblings, it went into his head. He worshiped his father and tried to emulate everything from his life. He married young not because he found love but because his father had also married young (and after his death, the marriage tie was basically severed so he could marry again if he wanted.) Anyhow, it doesn't stop here. He became an elven smith like his father although his heart was also set in writing.
Seeing his father burst into flames put him in a perilous mood for much of the First Age. He sought to avenge his father but also he committed foul (and foolish) acts throughout his life. The biggest shock for him was seeing his brothers dead in Doriath. He's seen death before, but seeing and actually realizing what death meant was a blow to him. Also, because of his own actions led them to their death. Of course he died in Doriath as well, but his soul did not heal in Mandos because he was too distraught over everything stupid that he's done in his life. He rejected his father and even more, rejected the Valar, which was what caused him to be kicked out of the Halls in the first place, hahaha.
So I guess, ultimately, Curufin's main motivation is to never be like his father. He's seeking a new life now. He's pretty much abandoned his father and former wife and even his son (who he decided didn't want anything to do with him, so he's not going to bother with patching things up.) He's trying to be his own person, and he's trying to be good...whatever that means to him. Or rather, we're seeing him when he's not in that First Age mode, the perilous and wicked Curufin although his character is still pretty devious. And he can be pretty foolish still...but, he's trying to be wiser about his actions and how he lives his life.
As for what terrifies him? Not exactly sure. I think he would go ballistic if he saw another one of his brothers dead since it was such a nasty shock to him before. I don't think he would be able to see something happen to Maglor, who he's come to really appreciate for being a very patient and compassionate brother and confidant.
That would probably be his biggest fear. Before, it was death, but he died and came back, so I think he won't care doing that again, hahaha.))
