would you be open to sharing a little bit more about your struggles with dandruff and how you overcome bigots who comment on it (if it's not too personal/triggering for you)?? it's just such an underrepresented condition, and it's so nice to see other people being so open about it on here. no worries either way, i just wanted to ask! have a beautiful day!!😊
Thank you sweetest anon ❤️ I have no problem opening up about this as I have worked it out with my therapist. My struggles with dandruff have been. quite honestly really debilitating. All of my life people have treated me different and called me things like Flakes as a child. I had a bully who would “make it snow” by shaking my hair, and all the kids would point and laugh and sing songs from Disney’s “Frozen” (2015) at me.
However, I have learned to accept this part of myself. I’ve also found that our body’s natural remedy, saliva, helps a ton ! Spitting in your hand and putting it on your head helps calm down the dandruff and soothe the scalp. As soon as I learned this, people left me alone miraculously even before it started working on my dandruff. As a marginalized person, my dandruff does not define me. It may make me disabled and liable to more slurs, but I take great pride in my disability and it’s lovely to see the dandruff community come more out of the shadows, be open about their disability, and support each other. I hope you have a wonderful day sweetest young anon !
