"Has it been a year already?"
May 8th.
The morning was quite chilly for late spring, but the sun was on a mission to warm up the land. A flock of Red Whistlers flew overhead and into the forest. They didn't mind the watchful eyes on them, busy with their birdy business. Same like a certain man this morning. Yesterday he mentioned that he'll have a free day, but ended up going somewhere either way. During the breakfast he was acting strange too. Maybe not "strange", but there were a couple glances as if expecting something and then a small sigh before he left. Pallas stretched his legs and laid down on the soft grass. He couldn't get over the feeling that he's forgetting something. `I don't think that I said or did something wrong... did I promise to do something? No.. not really..` he frowned and picked on the blades of grass. The demon just couldn't wrap his head around it, listing all kind of explanations in his head. `Is it some special day? Anniversary? No... Something.. Nah. May 8th... May 8th.` He laid there for a few more moments until the realisation hit him.
"Pallas, you're an idiot." He shot up. For a while he forgot that humans celebrate their birth.
"It's still early, I still have time." Pallas tried to reassure himself, granted he had no clue when the Arclight will be home. He rushed to the fields in a search for one kind of flowers in particular. Soon a thick bouquet of iris dieties was in his hands. He always made sure to get Varus's favourites for the special occasions, so when he found a whole field of them around a two years ago, Pallas felt like he landed a jackpot.
"Flowers, check." The demon hurried towards the house. It's nice, but nothing special. He wanted to do something special. Pallas walked in and looked around for a vase. Vase, water, flowers - done. Well he's done more than that, he has thrown all the stuff from the shelves onto the couch and the table in his hurried search for the vase. He might as well tidy it up. And perhaps the whole kitchen as well... soon, he was cleaning up the whole house. A rare sight indeed, but frantic and wanting everything to look nice, Pallas kept noticing things being out of place or dirt that needed some cleaning. He soon lost the track of time. When everything looked relatively clean he flopped onto the bed. "What the hell.. Sometimes I should clean as a work out."
He glanced out of the window. Varus could be home any time. Humans like sweets on their birthdays, don't they. He's definitely not baking anything himself. Does he have enough time to get to the village? Maybe, that's obviously hard to tell when he doesn't know how much time he has left. Oh well, better late than never. With a groan he got up and jumped out of the window dissolving into a mist.

"What do you mean you don't have any?!"
"I-I'm sorry, mister. We are a small bakery.. and we had a big order. The last cakes that we had lying around were sold around 10 minutes ago.." the baker was stepping away from the counter as if seeking for safety.
"Ugh, a new one. How long it would take you to bake a new one?" Pallas lowered his voice still staring daggers at the poor man.
"An an hour? Or two? I think we're out of milk, m-my assistant would need to go to the market."
"Fucking hell." Pallas sighed and ran fingers through his hair.
"What do you have then?" The baker began running around showing all kinds of baked goods from half empty shelves. In a couple minutes, Pallas left a few coins on the counter and headed home. He didn't mean to intimidate, but at least he got a discount.

When he got home he was surprised that Varus was not there yet. Surprised and mildly worried. Where is he anyway? He's not supposed to be at work. Pallas set the goods onto a wide plate next to the flowers. `I should probably get changed..` upstairs he opened the closet and searched for something (attempting his best not to make much mess). He decided on rather tight pants cause those made his ass look glorious, but couldn't decide about the top. He sighed and looked at himself in the mirror. Does he really need one? His lips curled into a smirk. The demon rummaged through a drawer and found a long, wide, red ribbon that Varus had used to wrap one of his Snowdown presents before. He wrapped it around his chest and tied a neat bow right between his pecks.
"Perfect. Who could ask for a better present?.." He snickered at himself and skipped back to the kitchen. Pallas picked up the pace when he heard Varus unlocking the door. He made sure the flowers and the plate with cookies and cupcakes were either side of him. Then Pallas sat onto the table crossing one leg over the other and leaning back onto his arms giving the view. The kitchen door opened.
"Happy birthday, Love." @ask-arclight-varus
