Seeing your Horse Reality foals is always so fun for me. Makes me wish I knew coat colors better though lol

Fair on the not knowing the coat colours, but it's really just learning as you work with it. I knew some of the names of coats from reading books or playing Howrse but I only started learning genetics and how it works when I started playing and breeding in Horse Reality.

Just today when doing the foal post, I had one with Cr Ch and D at once and I had to pull up the wiki to know what to call that lol, so even I'm still learning as well

I'm trying not to stop posting them, as sometimes it feels boring and not really important. But knowing that the pictures are here in case the onenote file I created bails out on me gives me a reason to continue. And also seeing one of the 3 people who like these posts in the notes makes me smile. I do appreciate the likes. I know tumblr culture is more reblogs, but the little heart as an acknowledgment from someone on the other side does feel nice on these smaller posts. Just, know that I appreciate it, okay?

I can't lie, idk if I'm tired lately or what, but I'm looking at the colors and modifiers of my horses, checking out the wiki(the site I found was incomplete), and hearing the internet dial-up noise...

There are some I can look at and know right away, but then I look at the more complicated colors and my brain shuts down lol.

Mostly this lovely lady and these two gentlemen.

Some colours are only distinguishable through testing, like black x smoky black, perlino x cremello x smoky cream, and I'm sure there's more.

Some are so similar there is only slight difference that you might or might not ever see, while some are similar, but you will start seeing the difference with experience. You can also try looking for some traits that are specific for a gene, like the markings of dun or darker legs and mouth on bays

Without looking at the guide, with a few-hours-old memory of the guide and my experience of seeing how the coats are drawn in this game I would guess:

1: darker legs so my guess is bay based, maybe prl/prl and/or champagne, maybe also additional silver for the pale mane+tail (if the horse is bay or black). maybe I would add dun, but I can't see a dorsal line(?)

2: again, slightly darker legs so bay based, maybe just champagne? Or maybe buckskin + champagne?

3: I have a very similar horse (maybe even the same lol), so I believe it's either cr/cr or cr/prl with champagne, but I don't see anything to identify the base.

Again, these guesses are made with my experience with the game (which is over 1 year) and a little bit of going through the wiki a few hours ago while figuring out a new horse I wanted to buy 😅

have/do you play on rdo horse servers? i got back into them recently and leanred very quickly that they're basically remaking red dead to be purely about horses. they have breeding and foals now, like wtf???

I heard about them, but never played on any. I only got like an hour in the story mode of rdr2 (which was the same day I bought the game), because the game is too big and my laptop isn't handling it very well. It lagged so much I couldn't do anything, I barely turned it off...
