hc + loyalty
Send me HC + a word and I’ll write a headcanon about it regarding my character.
Billy had no loyalty when he was found by the crew of the Walrus. He had lost it in the three years of slavery aboard the naval vessel. When he was rescued, and taken under Mister Gates’ wing it it was not something Billy took lightly. His fealty to the Walrus was set in stone the moment he slew the man that had ruined his life. Particularly to Hal Gates, because where all the rest left him to his own devices, Hal did not. Billy is loyal to a fault, and its only fitting he died with that loyalty still intact.
Why do you think Silver has such womanly hair?
“The cook’s hair isn’t really somethin’ I’ve put—- well any thought to greyhood.”
“But seein’ as you brought it up… why do you think it’s womanly?”
How does your muse demonstrate trust? How important does something have to be before your muse is willing to die for it?
— Touch. If Billy allows you to touch him he trusts you. If he doesn’t, or removes your hand from him, you can take it as a sign of the opposite. — Answered this one already.
How important does something have to be before your muse is willing to die for it? // What does your muse think of the human condition? // Sum up your muse's story in six words.
— Fairly important I should think. His crew and his freedom are the only truly important things in Billy’s life. Well and the old man…. but Billy’s lost the him now hasn’t he? — Billy never gave that sort of thing much thought. In the sense most people might. He has no real need to have the aged old question ‘why are we here?’ answered. For him life is a forward motion, that you take in steps and live in those steps. Because tomorrows never certain and yesterday’s going to stay gone no matter how much you want it back. — Freedom, aye that’s worth dying for.
Name one major reason why your muse is like they are today.
Hal Gates. Billy wouldn’t be alive, let alone who he is now without the old man. Gates was always straight with him. Never hedged, never lied. And it was that honesty between them, that saw Billy become the pirate with a conscience. One that had a loyalty to the men of his crew, like a man would his family.
Honestly, I adore your portrayal of Billy. He wasn't my favourite character in the show, but he was definitely one that I cared about. Its great to see such talent and dedication put into a character who truly deserves it and I think you're doing an A++ job. Billy's fate was one of the most heartbreaking things, and I miss him so much, but to have you here its like he never even left. You write as him so well, that I can hear his voice when I read your replies!
I want h o n e s t opinions about how I portray my character. If there’s a constructive criticism, I’d like to read it. If you’re too shy to say it, you can tell it with the anon on.
[[ -Lays face down on the floor very slowly- Holy shit. Going to be real honest here, I look up to you and the way you write. This is just, I’m going to need several long minutes to interally scream. … … … … … … … . . Ok done. Thank you, I wish there was some other way to say that, that gave it more emphasis. I was stupidly nervous to thread with you but you have been an absolute peach and this feedback is just the glorious icing on the proverbial blessings cake everyone else has made me. Thank you. I just can't ever say it enough.
[Okay, so I've adored you and Billy since we were interacting on my Ariel blog soooo long ago. The adoration is still there. I love your writing and the characterization is spot-on. I read the dialogue in Tom's voice... you're fabulous. Absolutely fabulous.]

[[Ok you guys are goin’ to kill me here….omg. But in all seriousness, thank you lovely. I know I kinda got lost at sea there for a while. (I need to stop with the jokes but I can’t. It’s either make jokes about it or go crawl under the bed and cry for the rest of my life.) But thank you for sticking with me, that means so much to me. You are amazing, and we should totes do an au thing yea? -hugs-]]
