Roots of the Craft (Part 1)
Divination. Does it work? Would you use it? What do you think of those who do? Why?
Divination does work! I only use it rarely, and then it is usually because of a certain happening rather than me actively seeking it out. What I mean by that is like omens.
When I look up during a storm and track the passage of cloud lightening, looking for pictures, letters, messages from the gods. When I have a sudden recollection of a memory or strong sense of deja vu, and I look for patterns and symbols and how they relate to the present.
Even things like fortune cookies, after I have asked for guidance and support. When I walk to and from school, where are the birds? What direction are they flying? Where are they roosting? What sounds do I hear?
This is all divination for me.
Of course, I sometimes make use of a pendulum to help me make decisions or to commune with local lesser spirits. This is not often, however. It was more frequent during my infant stages, less now that I am older and more experienced. I still have much to learn though!
As for other practitioners, it is not my place to judge. I have no opinion. I would not necessarily seek out divination from others, because of the many idiosyncrasies that go with it. For example, say a diviner pulls an omen that for them means personal rebirth (a seed), for me it would mean that I need to watch my garden for harvest and my flowers for bloom falls. So I do not seek it out. If a friend or family member were to seek them out while with me or recommend them to me, I may participate, but only then.
