Ok, when I went to the University of Colorado as a basketball program we had to fight for every ounce of respect we got literally fight. What happens in the professional world be it sports or Wall Street its about your pedigree. When a player goes to the Carolina’s, Duke’s and all other top programs that I could have went to I choose CU for 1 reason my brother went there, but I stayed because I loved the place. Today Booker declines not to play with is team and I respect that in two regards 1 it shows he focused on being a pro and that he understands the risk of injury and what that will do to his career. 2 That he has the courage to stand up and do what he feel is right, but in this case he is wrong. In 2003 after finishing 4th in the Big 12 we missed the tourney and instead the 5th place team Texas Tech was selected and we were sent to Eugene,Oregon to play on the road in the NIT. I rallied the team to boycott and was voted down and instead of not playing I did, granted we lost and it was the last game I played as a Buff, I played, I played because that was my purposes I didn't look far down the road and see the risks of injury i thought I was super man. I didn't let my pride of being voted down anger me into lashing out for one of the first times in my life, and when I left I felt that I grew the brand of that program. Now with the new regime Coach has made the program better and in his system I feel with my skill set the sky would have been the limit. Booker took us back to the old days the days when we lost player after player to transfers, when would miss out on bigger recruits, when basketball was a program the School president wanted to shut down. I have never spoken to Booker and if I would have taken Coaches offer I would have, I would say to him to play stay with your teammates as long as you can….. grab his chubby cheek like I was Billy Madison….this system where you have people who love you. They have taken you from what you were then to what your are now and you owe them nothing but to play a game. Its not the stage you feel you deserve but the stage that you will be placed on in the media will be a shaming post where you will be stoned by societies lust to bring people down. And all you have to do at the end of the day is say your injured at least you will save face but thats between us Askia,well I guess not anymore. Life after CU is amazing but its real life and the perceptions that you create now will follow you like a shade and haunt you…..Dude thats weak sauce not playing I’m begging you as a person who fought on the same court you have to go and play you will be a better man for it. Congratulations on your success and dude come on man thats not how we do things at THE University of Colorado.
