“BECAUSE WE’RE FAMILY.” Typical of Sasuke to wear his mask, fronting a performance around others. Never dropping the veil. In all their time spent together, he’d seen that mask come off during isolated events. And, after everything he’d been through, Naruto couldn’t blame him. But Naruto wasn’t one to give up -- or run away from a challenge. “Family doesn’t give up on family, Sasuke-kun. No matter how far you run, you can always count on me to be there to burst your bubble. You walk like you’re alone, but you’re not. And I’ll never let you forget that.”
He dared to step closer, if only to remind him of how they felt around one another. The bond they shared ... the one Sasuke fought so vehemently to destroy ... burned even miles apart. A fire that roared as wildly as theirs could not be put out by a measly water bucket. It’d take oceans - and, even then, it would still burn. Sasuke could keep trying - and, undoubtedly, he would - but it wouldn’t change a thing.
