There were a number of variables that had made Hathor hesitate more than once when it came to suggesting a potential raid. Or, well, not so much a raid as an exploration. For one thing, Lucius valued his authority. For another, he was of a mercurial temperament, which meant he didn’t exactly react the same way twice to any given suggestion?

Would you like to visit a strange, uncharted ocean in the middle of space? wouldn’t explain enough of the situation. If he lead with the mutated swordsmen, Lucius might not listen to the other important details that needed addressing. Such as the rare tomes located deep in the hull of a ruined ship. Would he have any interest in xenos leviathans? It was difficult to determine. 

Approaching Lucius’ throne, Hathor cleared his throat and attempted to school his features. He wasn’t sure appearing eager and excited would help or hinder his cause.  

“If I had a... project that I felt could benefit from your unique approach to such matters... I should tell you about it, right?”

Hathor returned the kiss with a good deal of enthusiasm, wrapping his arms around Lucius’ neck to keep him close. Yes, obvious was best, really. Not that he would have said no to a unique weapon or artifact, but a kiss was a promising start.

Lucius smiled against Hathor’s lips before pulling away. “I have missed you my conjurer.” And then he was kissing his lover again, even harder than last time.

Preening slightly, Hathor returned the next kiss. He had no complaint with the intensity. Once it was over, he said: “Not nearly as much as I’ve missed you. Things are intolerably duller when you’re absent.”

Saul eyed Lucius’ hand before accepting it, and very reluctantly moving with him in time to the music. A few lifetimes ago, they’d done this and Saul had never thought much of it. Now he felt more than a little conflicted. And concerned about what this dance would produce in terms of lasting consequences.

Lucius sat down and idly flicked through a book that sat upon the table. He was dressed in the colours of Hathor’s Legion just as Hathor was dressed in his. He looked into Hathor’s eyes and sighed a little.

“We are to do rotating duties. I shall be with you and your Legion for one compliance and then you will be with mine for one.” Lucius corrected as he flipped the book shut and pushed it away with a finger. “I am Lucius, Captain of the Third and greatest swordsman in the entire Legion barring my Lord Fulgrim himself. And what of you?”

“Oh, of course,” Hathor said with a slight frown. His answers hadn’t been that inaccurate. 

He managed a smile when Lucius asked about him. “A pleasure, Lucius. I’m Hathor Maat, as you know. I’m Captain of the third fellowship and a member of Cult Pavoni, which is to say a biomancer. I can use my powers to heal or to harm.”

Lucius pretended to think for a moment. “I want you, naked upon my bed and at my command.” He licked softly behind Hathor’s ear. “Should you win then I will be naked upon your bed at your command.”

Hathor shivered slightly. Lucius’ tongue felt good against his skin. “That seems fair... In a way. Neither one of us lose exactly...” Although it would be interesting if he could manage to best Lucius and win.
