There was once the boy,
who sat on the bench alone,
rocking his small body back and forth,
already long hands tangled around the skinny legs.
He rocked back and worth,
head buried into his knees,
that’s when I first saw him.
There was once the boy,
who drew flowers on dirt, alone
his small finger traveling the ground,
fingers long, thin and delicate,
he drew flowers on dirt,
smile playing on his lips,
that’s when I first met him.
There was once the boy,
who sat on the park alone,
shyly looking at me,
his eyes big with wonder ,
he sat alone,
smiling as I asked his name,
that’s when I first called him a friend.
There was once the boy,
who had a quiet voice and sly smile,
sweating alone on his desk at school,
too tall to blend in with other first graders,
he sat alone,
glancing around the room,
that’s when I first thought that he is cute.
There was once the boy,
all skinny legs and long bones,
who only laughed with those he knew,
7th grade and taller than teachers,
he had skinny legs,
and he hid them in shame,
that’s when I first knew that I like him.
There was once the boy,
usually reserved and shy,
who broke that habit to defend me,
standing up his full height, eyes flaming,
he was shy and liked to stay out of problems,
and yet he projected me,
that’s when I first knew that I love him.
There was once the boy,
whom I thought to like my friend,
but when asked to confess to her,
he threw me to the wall and kissed me,
I though he liked her,
and yet he kissed me with fire,
that’s when I first realised that I want him.
There was once the boy,
who entwined his fingers to mine,
shaking with fear but never letting go,
crying out my name like a prayer,
entwining our fingers harder,
whispering out words of love,
that’s when I first knew,
that I’d never want to let him go.
