"You gambled away... the crown jewels." (Hi...hope you don't mind)
set at some point in TDOT’s vague future, Charlie is 18 here
“You gambled away… the crown jewels.”
Missy stared at her daughter, who was in the middle of a pairs card game with some diplomats from the neighbouring planet.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” Charlie asked, arching an eyebrow. “They weren’t ours, we just stole them when we took over. Why does it matter? I know they’re nice and shiny, but so are a million other things.”
“I dunno, Princess,” said her cards partner from beside her, frowning, “they were very shiny. It physically hurts me to see them on the other side of the table.”
“Shut up, Hart,” Missy and Charlie said at the same time, making the ex-Time Agent roll his eyes and mutter about being underappreciated.
“You’re underappreciated by my disintegrator, is what you are, you irritating man,” Missy told him. “You’re lucky that my daughter for some reason - well. She’s like her father, I suppose. Friends in odd places.”
One of the diplomats had started laughing at their exchange, while the other was far too taken with the shine of the crown jewels he had just won to pay them much mind.
“Win them back,” Missy told her daughter, sternly. “Now.”
Hart spread the cards out before them as he finished shuffling, and gave the short purple aliens a wolfish grin.
“What do you say, rematch?”
“You put your hands on my crown jewels, Captain, and I’ll cut them off,” Missy warned him.
“Are you trying to turn me on, Mistress?” he shouted after her as she began to walk away, only to get a whack on the shoulder from Charlie. “Threats of violence? Dead sexy.”
“Shut up and win my jewels back.”
