“Oh, THE Hazard? That explains your PRESENCE here. I have HEARD whispers of a new woman with a predilection for mischief.” He sat up then, hauling himself to his feet and hefting his guitar, lifting the strap so it wrapped over his shoulder. This was, of course, not the legendary firebreathing, dual-necked guitar, but a much simpler number, well-worn and roughshod. It seemed to need almost continuous tuning, but he never seemed annoyed by the repeated fiddling with the pegs, and yellow-toothed smile flashed briefly across his lips every time the instrument sang harmoniously again.

He leaned against the wall, humming along with the tune he now plucked out with careful precision. He lifted his head after a while, neck craned with one ear angled toward the door. “You sing. Do you PLAY?”

The Hazard? She had no idea that her reputation preceded her. What kind of reputation could she have, really? Evidently, he slipping about and seeking safety from the Vault was better known than she thought. At least he hadn’t said anything of her crying. She did that a lot.

He stood, lifting the guitar, and fiddled with it, twisting knobs and strumming to make sure the strings sounded right. She wouldn’t know, but evidently, the smile meant he had fixed whatever was wrong with it. He smiled, and asked her if she played. She shook her head without thinking, then paused. Right, blind.

“Nuh uh.”

((I’m open to either. Since Hazard’s meant to be one of Joe’s breeders/a breeder in general, it would probably be pre, though who knows how long before.))
