After just picking up Grace from school, Annabelle was ready to relax, help her with her Kindergarten homework and maybe watch some Disney Junior. However, that plan was thwarted with a call from her mother, Mrs. Sutherland, going over wedding plans with her.
“Mom, I already said The Plaza is out of the question... No, the Four Seasons is not what I had in mind too. I don’t want to invite five hundred guests where more than half don’t even know who I am! ... Yes, I’m willing to pay for my own wedding. Jeff is too. I didn’t ask you to... ugh.“
Ana put the phone down and let her mother ramble on and on about how lucky she is to have parents that are willing to splurge on her wedding. She put out a plate and a glass of milk, as she was about to place some carrot sticks out for Grace, she decided to add a chocolate chip cookie as well. Having this conversation again always called for some chocolate shortly after. Ana had about enough. It wouldn’t be the first time Jefferson would come home to yet another argument on the phone with her parents about their wedding. She felt awful every time her parents tried to meddle into it, as if long ago they did not even approve of her dating Jefferson. He did not deserve the stress they were putting on them.
She brought over the snacks to Grace who was coloring in her workbook and picked up the phone once again in time to respond to her mother. “Yes, I understand... No, I have not set a date yet... That’s what I was trying to tell you and you went ahead and inquired about locations without me anyway...”
