This has got to be a dream, she thought to herself.
First she had noticed, out of the corner of her eye, a rather good-looking young man with his arm around a dark-haired girl with silver eyes, both of them seated on the bench just across from the bookshop that she was currently standing in. She caught herself thinking that they were the very picture of Ray and June, but at first she’d brushed it off as coincidence and thought nothing of it.
However, it was when a blonde teenage girl scampered over to join them, with another young man in tow, that things started to get spooky. Either that’s actually Chloe Moretz and Harry Lloyd, or… She trailed off mid-thought when, from her vantage point near the front of the store, she managed to overhear one of them call the girl Cassie. It couldn’t have been that big of a coincidence.
She managed to steal another glance from around the corner of a shelf, and there could be no more doubt that they were who she thought they were, and the young man now sitting on the very end of the bench along with them (and looking very, very bored) was Matthew himself.
She was in disbelief. This was impossible. They didn’t actually exist, Frankie had made them up. Not to mention they were several thousand miles away from where they ought to have been. By the time she’d processed this information and looked back again, they were gone. As if they’d never been there.
