Dear Diary,

Beignet still seems so sure that I’ll come out of this okay. It’s very clear that the illness is much too far along to be helped now. Look, the wound already messed up some of this page. Good thing I can write with my left hand, huh?

Anyways… I’m just so worried for what he’ll do when I’m gone. Marie said that someone like him may not understand the concept of death. I guess I can see that, but… He seems more in denial to me. That’s not good at all.

He’s tried so hard to fight for the cure, even going so far as to confront Claus on his own. As much as I wanted to scold him for that, I felt more relief than anger upon seeing him return. He didn’t tell me much about the encounter. Maybe Claus swore him to secrecy? I would keep my mouth shut too.

I wish I had the strength to spend more time with him. Even now I just feel… Awful. Awful and hopeless. I can’t see how I could recover from this state.

But… You know how much I love him, huh? I guess I’ll have to try to be hopeful for his sake.
