Unwanted Light in a Dark Land
It had been mere days since she had been spell bound and forced against her will to have what would normally be such atrocious thoughts fester in her mind. Anger and rage boiled beneath the surface of her skin when her thoughts strayed to those of her fellow guardians.
Gone was the bubbly, sweet, caring faerie, and in her place was something far more dark in its intentions. She had allowed her palace to fall into disarray, once bright and shining pillars lined with gold, now cracking and falling to pieces.
Her mini fairies had gone through much the same change, no longer as innocent as they once had been. They still collected teeth, leaving coins in their places, but not for so lovely a purpose as guarding the sleeping children's memories. No, even that had been cast out, the ornate tooth boxes steadily collecting dust as each tooth was piled upon one another in a large heap without a care. She only needed the power that came with belief, all else was none of her concern.
So when the dark, the putrid and horrifying decay that Toothiana had allowed to grow and overtake her palace, was penetrated by unwanted light, the Faerie Queen felt rage build within her.
Spotting her in the distance, she flew swiftly, stopping but a few feet away and circling around the girl like a hawk circling its own prey.
"What has made you stray so far from home, light bearer?"
