what are your favorite political assassinations
1. The assassination of President Lincoln by John Wilkes Booth at Ford’s Theatre.
2. (Not really an assassination but still a political death) The execution by guillotine of Georges Jacques Danton because of his opposition of Maximilian Robespierre in the argument of whether or not to end The Terror. Danton took the more moderate, nonviolent side and called for an end, while Robespierre, drunk on power, called for it to continue. In the end, Danton ended up with his head on the chopping block, and the last words to leave his lips: “My only regret is that I am going before that rat, Robespierre”. (Note: Robespierre was also later executed after having continued to be continuously more power drunk, changing the entire calendar, publicly leading an immense rally in a toga upon a giant paper mache mountain for the Cult of the Supreme Being, and attempting to take his own life, and failing.)
3. The ass-ass-ination of the Mayor of Bootytown by a man with no ass.
