Hello, I have a question. Can a company with registered copyright over original artwork produced by them legally sue someone who has taken their images, edited them in a way that leads to false advertisement, confusion between the edit and the original images, and possible negative impact to their revenue from the public release of the edits? The edits bear no transformative value and 100% of the edit is still from the copyrighted images.

Yes, they very well could and it is within their rights to take legal action. In fact, this is the reason why you don’t see the Japanese fandom do mass edits ala the English-speaking fandom does! Fair use and all that.
