Hello, I have a question. Can a company with registered copyright over original artwork produced by them legally sue someone who has taken their images, edited them in a way that leads to false advertisement, confusion between the edit and the original images, and possible negative impact to their revenue from the public release of the edits? The edits bear no transformative value and 100% of the edit is still from the copyrighted images.

Yes, they very well could and it is within their rights to take legal action. In fact, this is the reason why you don’t see the Japanese fandom do mass edits ala the English-speaking fandom does! Fair use and all that.

Do you got any tips, tricks or references at hand to help with flowy capes and clothing? A friend's been struggling with that and I got nothing on the matter.

I now it's already a few months old, but thank you for that post about japanese copyright stuff. I was always wondering why you rarely see japanese people in fandom, well apart from their stolen art. So that was the reason, thanks for educating me and others about this issue! Does this copyright law also apply to westeners making fanart/fics/etc. of nintendo/square/konami/etc. stuff? Could they sue me too if they saw my fanart of their game/show/etc? Or can they only sue japanese people? Thanks.

I was looking at Eruca's sprites and noticed that she sticks her two guns together to make a rifle. Do you have a reasonable explanation for how this could work?

really? i haven’t noticed! i thought it’s that she keeps her rifle in her Bag of Holding. :V :A i’ll have to check out the sprites again someday!

Also, are you planning to do art streams again at some point or do you still have computer problems?

i tried an informal stream the other day and my PC was lagging uncontrollably when I did, so I think I can really do it only after I get a new PC :< which won’t be anytime before June, unfortunately. we’ll see!
