Jude looks around, everyone silent as two Exodus members pace, those new miniature Lances of Kresnik held tightly in their hands just in case anyone gets any ideas. Jude feels around in his pocket for his GHS, opening it and using the labcoat to half hide it as he begins to slowly type, occasionally putting it back in the pocket when one of the people holding them walks by. //They came for the research. Being held. Needed to talk to you.// He pauses a moment before finishing. //Don't come.//
"So that means production should double in the next half year."
"Exactly." Ivar nodded, crossing his arms thoughtfully. "That way, we can--"
bzzt.
Ivar blinked, and the elder shifted his weight patiently as Ivar turned away to take his GHS and examine it; he'd taken to keeping it with him all the time, since he communicated with Jude often enough. He was glad. He opened the device with a smile that quickly faded as he quickly read over the words, heart plummeting into his stomach as he reread them over and over with a sickening sense of horror falling over him.
It finally set in, and he needed to take action now. His finger hovered over the call button with a sense of panic - if "they" had him .. hostage? Calling might kill him. Ivar felt like he was going to throw up. No, he couldn't do that.
Shakily, he typed a reply as fast as he could.
//Don't do anything dangerous. I'm coming right now. I'll get you out.//
He'd never listened to Jude. Jude was as stupid as a rock if he didn't think Ivar wasn't going to come rescue him.
He didn't even spare the elder a glance before shooting off and calling for his wyvern, gripping his GHS in his hand so hard his knuckles began turning white. He looked down at it with worry, a deep frown setting in on his face.
Why do you treat every Jude so differently?

Every Jude gets different treatment because each Jude is different.
Ivar gets along with some Judes really well. Some he really doesn’t. Most kind of fall in-between. It helps w/ the smoothness of the relationship if it’s post-ToX2 Ivar we’re talking about, only because at that point they’re basically friends, for all intents and purposes - but even from a ToX1 standpoint, at the end Ivar acknowledges him and that can manifest in a lot of ways, depending on how well the particular Jude interacts with him.
For example, for some reason, all strawberry-healer's Jude seems to do is spark the parts of Ivar that make him mad. Somehow, sstrawberrysshortcake's Jude always says the right thing to calm him down and they were able to become really good friends. spyritxdoctor's Jude does similarly know what's on Ivar's mind, but Ivar's a little more prickly about it (and we haven't gotten a chance to interact much so he hasn't become un-prickly yet). With pipsqeakjude's Jude, he gets tripped up really easily. Ivar knows hewhoactswithconviction's Jude isn't a bad person, but he has a really hard time talking and getting along with him and feels really awkward with him. Ivar's really competitive with strawberryhonor's Jude, but incredibly cheery and proud around askthenerdydoctorjude's. Et cetera et cetera!
I can’t really explain why this is!! I don’t really control what Ivar does - I kind of just let the muse do stuff for himself - but as far as I go in my treatment of Judes, I treat each Jude separately. That is, that with each Jude, he is the only Jude - because really, how could I not treat them differently when no two Judes are the same!
