Sorry if someone's asked this already, but any recommendations for places that are a must see if you're in Japan?

Hi there!!

Actually, no one has ever asked me this, so thank you! I’m sure you can read about all the Tokyo/Kyoto/Osaka hot spots in any travel guide, so I’ll give you my Top 3 personal favorite recommendations that maybe you can’t find so easily :) 

Number 3: Nagasaki City

Probably most famous for it’s tragic history during WWII, Nagasaki today is actually one of the most culturally-diverse places in Japan. Waaaay back in the day, Nagasaki was one of the only ports open to foreign ships, which led to a mix of Portuguese, south-east Asian, and Scottish trade. Aside from the Peace Memorial Park and museum, you can find a vibrant Chinatown and European-style Glover Gardens. Also, you can find some of the best food in the world here - juicy pork buns, castella cake, and Sasebo burgers!!!!

Number 2: Miyajima 

Located in Hiroshima prefecture, you have to take a ferry to get to this famous island. As you can see in the picture, it’s most famous for it’s “floating shrine” - which is actually on posts in shallow water. When the tide goes out, you can walk out to the torii and place a coin on the pillar for good luck. But there’s a lot more that makes Miyajima worth a trip!! In autumn, the island is full of bright red tiny maple trees! There’s a ropeway up to the top of the mountain to give you the best view possible. Also - DEER!! So so so so sooooo many deer! And they’re all wild and friendly and will try to eat anything in your hands, so be careful. As for delicious food, you can eat anago (a type of small eel), fresh oysters, and momoji manju which are little fried buns in the shape of maple leaves :D

Number 1: Yakushima

 THE most beautiful place in all of Japan, and possibly the entire world imho. Anime fans may recognize this island as the inspiration for the forest in Princess Mononoke - an ancient, almost untouched wildness, with such steep mountains and dense rain forests that the island is said to experience every single climate possible from beach to peak. To reach the island, you need to take a 2-hour ferry from Kagoshima (past Sakurajima, Japan’s most active volcano and another must-see spot!). There’s a small town and a bus you can take up to the base of the hiking trails. If you want to see the famous Jomon-sugi - the oldest pine tree in the world (? maybe fact check this?) - you can take a 10-hour hike round trip through the forest. I haven’t done it yet, but it’s on my bucket list if I’m ever lucky enough to go back here.

ooc: This is a very unpopular opinion, but I don’t like jokes about Beauty and the Beast being an example of Stockholm Syndrome. Sure Belle is taken captive for about a week if not less, but Beast is really just a spoiled child. Yeah he shouts at her, but he doesn’t mistreat, insult or degrade her. And he doesn’t really try to keep her from leaving even when he goes after her in the woods scene. 

I know it’s a Disney movie but we’ve seen Captive Princesses before in Disney Movies (Frozen, Aladdin, Atlantis, The Little Mermaid) Belle’s life in never in danger by anyone. And don’t forget the infamous “GET OUT” scene. I’m not going to defend his actions, but if Belle had even touched the rose, The Beast would have died. 

All I’m saying is, as someone who’s been in a few unhealthy relationships, it’s never Beauty and the Beast its always Beauty and the Guy Everyone Thinks is Awesome, aka Gaston. The Beast is really some sloppy, arrogant kid who was too fluffy and pouty to intimidate Belle. Though “but you must promise to stay here forever” line is HELLA creepy.

(dUDE, you have no idea. it’s funny because most of my family doesn’t give 2 shits about my hobby and don’t know much about the industry I want to be in [japanese comic and video game industry] yet they do half-ass sort of participate. so seeing them feel genuinely emotional about nyx ulric and titus drautos I’m just like ‘sweet, get rektd u fuckin ingrates’)

Useless Details Ask Meme I

✯ what do their texts look like? do they use emojis often? what kind?

His texts always contain proper grammar and spelling. He never really got into the habit of using emojis and rarely uses them, but Prompto stole his phone at some point and installed the chocobo emoji pack, replacing the original ones that were there. Every so often, he’ll use the running chocobo emoji to signal when it’s time to leave or go somewhere. He’s not exactly sure how it ended up in his shortcuts though.
