Are you able to do character x character or would you rather just have character x reader requests? I have some ow pairs I'm craving right now and I've never really been into selfshipping

Aaaa so sorry, but I unfortunately don’t do character x character due to the entire shipping discourse.

What I may like someone may hate and I’m not up for dealing with hateful comments regarding ships.

I’m sure there are plenty of other writers out there who would LOVE to write them, however, it’s not something I’m willing to do 😅

How long did it take you to get popular for your writing? Any suggestions for newbie Overwatch writers?

Aaa, I wouldn't say I'm popular, most followers were from 2014/15 when I first started this blog as just an every post sorta thing. Reblogged all sorts, not just Overwatch stuff. Was a mix of palettes, photography, art I liked etc... or Aizawa from MHA

But, since making this blog more centred around Overwatch back in May 2023, it has grown little by little. I was writing a lot back in uni, never really made any of my own posts here until I just went for it and started posting my writing. My longer fics at the time were posted on AO3, and they still are (if I remember to do it)

I believe, iirc, it was the fics I was writing at 3am when I couldn't sleep. They were poorly written, I won't lie about that, or a 200 words a day in may challenge, which I uploaded in two parts that jump started this blog. As of this post, I have 743 followers. (it was over 1k at some point but then Tumblr did an oopsie and deleted over HALF of them, and I wasn't the only blog affected)

Some of my pieces are still on the lower end of engagement, whilst some have over 200 likes. You tend to not focus on that, however.

As for getting into writing for any fandom in general, just go for it. Don't have to stick with one character, write for whoever you want, whatever genre you want. It's not gonna be perfect first time around, hell, as I mentioned in a similar ask, not all of my works are 100% perfect. Even if I proofread them before posting, I still find mistakes.

Find what you're comfortable in writing, whether it's ships or reader inserts, or even oc's. I started with Yeehan x reader back on Ao3 (BEFORE the Aizawa fics surfaced) and now I'm here with reader inserts for most characters with the very rare character only pieces.

You'll tend to pick up on character mannerisms as you write - or you can make your own up. You might notice in most of my Ramattra pieces, I will tend to avoid contractions (that's, it's, etc) and instead use full words. Hell, I will change the entire sentence if I can to avoid them.

And with some Cassidy fics, he'll not pronounce the endings of some words; darlin' is a very common one among many writers.

ALSO, do not be afraid to write a piece, big or small, based off of someone's art work. I've done it a few times, like this one or even this one.

And set boundaries on what you will or won't write.

Just have fun with it. And just because someone has already written a coffee shop AU or a shared bed AU doesn't mean you're not allowed to do it. Your work will be different from the last one and everyone loves a shared bed AU

Fun fact: Wanna know something? I used to dislike Ramattra. No lie, when he first got released, didn't like him. But, you know what changed that? Seeing the art of him flood my twt feed. After a while, something about him just changed my opinion. He's now my top played character at lvl 125 (second highest tank is dva is at lvl 23 (Ana is close behind at lvl 120))

now that's a lot of followers to just lose, regardless of if that blog has been inactive for a while

I honestly don't know

And I don't believe it's a purge of inactive blogs because the first person to follow me here (an old friend of mine when I first joined Tumblr back in 2016(?)) still follows me and she hasn't been active since 2020. And that goes for many inactive blogs, friends and strangers alike...

I block and report the porn blogs, probably missed a few here and there but 500 of them?? Something ain't adding up
