I think the reason Taylor’s response to charli also gives mean girl is because the argument can be made that sympathy is a knife actually looks internally as to WHY she’s feeling that way about Taylor, which is her own insecurity as an artist, and Taylor’s whole song is just making fun of her lol. I also think it’s because Taylor is an industry titan and Charli just finally had her breakout, but she’s still not reallyyyy Taylor’s peer, and anything Taylor says goes: she has the ability to redefine someone’s public image, and while I’m not saying she doesn’t have a RIGHT to respond, sometimes it’s like she’s unaware of her own power. sympathy as a knife did not affect her career. actually romantic will affect charli’s. And imo it’s like Taylor, leave HER to look obsessed! Don’t dignify it with a response! If it’s one-sided beef leave it one-sided.

I agree with this. I think Taylor absolutely has a right to respond and defend herself when she’s being attacked, and because of their major differences in level of fame, it just comes off as bullying rather than genuine beef between 2 musical colleagues.

I'm the anon who said this is her most sexual, yet conservative album yet. And I think both can be true at once because 1. conservatives are not actually that puritanical anymore and 2. she is portraying a men worshipping type of sexuality that can be seen in conservative circles. "His dick is so big and that makes him more of a man than my past lovers. His dick saved me from depression and loneliness. I want to live in the suburbs and give him white kids. Because I'm a woman and he's a man". She's sexual explicitly for men, and with the implication that the sex will lead to a blockful of white children.

See, my thing is that there’s just about nothing wrong with that EXCEPT for how she wants to have live in a neighborhood where everyone looks just like him?! I need to know what she means QUICKLY, bc in today’s political climate, that’s not something that should be left open for interpretation. No like I’m actually so sad

I’m SO sorry. A lot of my friends and my family who like Taylor are also like very confused about it. And I understand why swifties are like “oh people just aren’t reading into this properly to understand” because Taylor’s built such a culture within her fandom to read into Easter eggs or whatever, but this just doesn’t feel that way? She’s got so many good silly pop songs (me, Shake it off, glitch, Paris) and those all at least have good cadence and decent lyrics. It just sucks looking forward to a new taylor release just to really not fuck with it and then have the whole fandom say you’re stupid and don’t actually understand Taylor! Like I’ve been here since 2006 but I’m just a hate listener I guess!!!

I’m genuinely hoping the album grows on me but rn I need space from it bc I’m just getting upset by the lack of substance, and I don’t even mean lyrically. The production is whack too (in my opinion).
