Love this ask lol. From what I remember it was a running joke back when Gabe P. first got called up to the The Rangers that auto-correct kept changing the spelling of his name to Gay Parole in people’s phones.

There was also a tweet about someone posting in the Penguins LB tag back in March that brought it back to life & it seems like it just really stuck lol.

I unfortunately don’t know who the actual first poster was/ if there was one specific post that started it all but whoever they are… fly high diva🕊️

& welcome to the Shark tank!🫶 Oddly enough I don’t think there’s actually like 1 set name? I see “Sharkies” used pretty often but in my brain I automatically associate that with what Cat T. calls the baby Sharks so I don’t really use it tbh. (Lots of people do though!)

More SEED thoughts:

Flay is well written in that she's complex. However, I still do not like her. I'm very uncomfy with the Kira/Flay romance. Like can I go back to watching Le Creuset manipulate Athrun now instead of watching Flay manipulate Kira into continuing to fight?

I did really enjoy getting to see Kira and Cagalli bond. Her gruff kindness was very well executed, and his very confused body language was well executed but also made me upset. Bby who hurt you

Still a big fan of Kira and his ridiculously big heart. His emotions get him into trouble all the time and I find that really fun to watch.

I love how when Kira goes Newtype mode, or "Coordinator mode," I suppose, the animators chose to draw him without any of the light in his eyes. Like I don't think this show intends to paint going full Coordinator as a bad thing, but it is very interesting to me.

Cagalli is also a traumatized teenaged girl but in a way I find significantly more palatable than Flay. I really like Cagalli though, I enjoy how snappy and angry she is. Her interactions on the island with Athrun did a lot for both of them as characters as well as being pretty funny sometimes. Athrun you are a gentleman and also kinda ridiculous

Someone in the writer's room said "I'm gonna give the Le Creuset girlies exactly what they want" and gave us a 3 minute scene of him struggling to get out of bed, take his meds, and answer a phone call. He's such a pathetic wet cat when he isn't being a mastermind. Second most relatable thing a Char clone has done, after McGillis reading a bird book instead of talking to the kids his age.

i looooooooove cagalli!! i love her and kiras dynamic too squishes them. shes literally so cool and i love that shes got an attitude but shes not a jerkwad either. she and athrun are so good too even though there are things Wrong With Them. the island was a fun little arc and also theyre very cutes

i never thought of their newtype mode beyond OMG COOL EYES but youre right even if that wasnt the intention hmm

literally what is yzak's problem he is so funny for this but also ???? child youll die of high blood pressure before 30

So I restarted Seed, because I started it during finals season, which was not the move and I remembered none of it. In no particular order, here are my thoughts:

I'm watching it on Netflix bc Crunchyroll only has it subbed, and I like to watch while I draw or build kits. Why is the video quality noticeably worse on Netflix and why do some of the lines have zero dubbing? Who mixed this audio???

The fashion in this show is iconic. Kira's black shirt with the buckles and that choker? Stealing that. Lacus' dress? Gorgeous. Rau Le Creuset's mask? Bug-like, 10/10.

I do in fact find all the Zaft characters more interesting than the protagonists, unfortunately. I want to know what's wrong with all of them, because I can tell it's a lot. Athrun is currently my favorite.

Flay is still annoying unfortunately. I get that she's a teenaged girl going through a lot but she can be very mean.

Kira isn't my favorite protag by any stretch, but I enjoy how open he is with his emotions.

That tiny pink Haro can do no wrong, but also it has committed war crimes.

Why does Lacus sound like Fluttershy? And I can't get over Rau being voiced by Griffith. Genuinely disorienting. Who let that man into space

zaft is more compelling to me (though i adore kira with my entire heart. also mu and murrue BUT) as well. i have an athrun figure for some reason (literally i dont know why i bought him)

flay is annoying and mean and SO well written in the "character made to be hated" shes fun but also can someone shake her. and i love kira being so emotional even if thats annoying too, hes a lil guy he feels soooo much
