Hello! As a fellow aroace who is romance and sex repulsed, I am quite annoyed to encounter content about that stuff in media I consume.

I wish there was a list of such movies somewhere, but sadly I did not find one. Thus, I take this job upon myself to try and make one myself :)

I will be tackling only movies in this blog 📹

Off the top of my head i thought of totoro and a bunch of other ghibli movies tho im not sure which ones have romance and which ones don't (i think kikis delivery service and arrietty dont have romance at all either but not sure, i havent seen them in ages)

Also brave!! Merida is aroace 100% no one will convince me otherwise

Oh yeah! Completely forgot about the Studio Ghibli movies! Sadly a lot of them do contain some elements of romance, but they all (from my knowledge) are completely sex-free, so they will likely also appear on here eventually.

I also completely forgot about the existence of Brave. Will definitely rewatch it, and add it on here eventually

...Quickly realizing that the challenge here is finding repulase/aroverse content that isn't geared towards kids.

And so I submit: The Lord of the Rings Trilogy--

99.999999% repulase friendly (there is nothing onscreen, but a character gets a vision of a future child she has with her love interest, so it's just the implication)

I would say 80-85% aroverse friendly--there are romantic relationships (the above being the main one), but they are very much relegated to the background of the story.

This is applicable for both the regular editions and the extended editions.

Oh yes, I also noticed that. I’ll keep trying to think of any media not targeted at children, to include here too, but I’d imagine it will be a harder feat.

I have not watched the Lord of The Rings trilogy yet, so I’ll likely have to just do a whole bunch of research first. But I think it might appear on here one day 🙂

Pokémon: the First Movie is repulace-friendly and 99.9% arverse-friendly (one character comments that another is attractive twice in the movie, but that's it).

Hah, I’d hope the Pokemon movies would be repulace friendly. I have yet to watch any Pokemon movie other than the Pikachu live action one, so this is a good excuse to do so.

You can definitely expect to see it on here eventually :)

What's the border in romance, no romantic subplots, no implications of romance in any of the characters, no flirting, no partners? I'm looking through films and no subplots is seeming difficult so I get why it's so hard to find if you have a stricter definition than that

Hello! I am trying to aim for a more strict selection? As in completely no romance to get the ‘no romantic mention/content’. However! I will also include movies that do contain romance, but don’t contain sexual mention or content. They just won’t have the #arverse tag.

I don’t have a specific list of requirements (especially considering I have never felt romantic love, I’m likely not 100% correct as I’m mostly guessing).

But here’s some stuff I’d include as romantic gestures: kissing, flirting, love confessions, crushes, etc.

Concerning relationships. An example of something I’d consider passable are relationships that are just called romantic relationships? Like they exist technically,

For example, the No.1 appearance on this blog — Marble Hornets; does have a canon relationship in the story. I think it’s even mentioned that they’re in a relationship? But it is not the point of the story whatsoever and there are no elements of romance exchanged. It’s like it’s not really there. That would get an #arverse tag.

Sadly if we are aiming for a strict ‘no romance’ goal, it does mean it is way harder to find something that doesn’t include romance. Especially something not targeted towards small children.

Also don’t worry about asking something someone might’ve asked before. There aren’t many asks right now, so it’s very likely that if it wasn’t answered already, then it wasn’t asked before.
