A beggar comes to you and asks if you can spare any change, he says he wishes to buy a sandwich. You decide he is lying and will buy liquor with it instead so you refuse. Why should this matter? Throw out your love again and again, even if each time you come back disappointed. If he feels desperate enough, for whatever reason, to lie then perhaps that is a good enough reason to show compassion.
This is the way I hope to love.
