Nothing had been said aloud to alert her that he was feeling under the weather. Even to his own sister, he was averse to show any sign of discomfort; and simply determined to keep problems to himself. It had been necessary for the roles that he’d filled in his short life.

But even if he was expressionless to everyone else, his sister would always be able to tell the difference. Words weren’t needed.

Not moving from his spot at the low table where he had managed to get comfortable, he responded, “Tea would be appreciated.” There was a thank you hidden in there, even if not spoken outright.

Pitch-black eyes turned to fix their stare on the boy. Akutagawa had barely taken notice of his presence; so the sudden sound of a voice caught him by surprise, no less for what was said. He scrutinised the child’s face. Should he recognise them? If so, he didn’t. The neutral-displeased look on his face turned into a deeper frown.

“How would you know?”

It was, despite the borderline aggressive growl that he spoke it in, a genuine question. But having a stranger state something hinting at personal issues right out of the blue would prompt such a reaction.

           His eyebrow rose as he listened to her, closing his eyes and blowing a ring of smoke into the air before he nodded and flicked the end of his cigarette onto the ground, stepping on it to extinguish it before finally looking to her. Well of course they would- especially if she ran about the mafia as if it was a playground...

   But he was trying to be understanding, he was trying for her. It wasn’t easy but...he couldn’t say he’s given up so soon.

   A shrug before he began walking on, a gentle hand motion for her to follow him- maybe a walk with this old man could give her some peace of mind. Maybe.

He sunk deeper into seat, head now resting on his own hand & eyes were glued to the other person from beneath the bangs.
