There is so much suspension of disbelief that I can master Ep9S2 of Aldnoah.Zero, even if I knew was gonna go this way, is my limit.
I have so many notes, but to some it up: that earth battle was so stupid, and a waste of potentially, Inaho eye should have stopped working half way through it with all the build up to him using it to much and being dangerous, there should have been more struggle, and if is an invasion why are there on 3 people? Where are the war ships ? The soldiers? Why didn't they made camp? Earth used the ww1 Italy strategy for heavens sakes they should have lost more than 20 people. So yeah no more suspension of disbelief for you.
This is also the episode where Asylum character want to shit, and not to be a radical anti-monarchy, but
Lemrina and Asseylum both are traitors of their people and their stations, and they should receive the Nikolai Alexandrovich Romanov aka Nikolai II of Russia treatment.
Lemrina is a bastard, I understand that she gives 0 shits about the royal family and her duties, but she also gives 0 shits about the people, and those who raised her, which I don't know understandable, she's very 4 coded she' trully drowning in her own misery, and she has no way out, but allying herself with Asseylum was... a choices, did she not realize that by doing so she jeopardise her position? Just shoot her if your really have to. All her actions I can justify to some extent but man above she does feel like a traitor.
Asseylum is just blind, so blind. She learned nothing. She repeats Inaho words at Slaine, and she might be right, if she understood what she was talking about, but done this way she only passes as a child that repeats her parents words. Her people are dying because they leave on a dying planet that is only standing thanks to the aldnoah, they eat algeas for fucks sakes, no human lose is great enough for them to stop now. Her family used all their resources for weapons and none to actually make the planet livable, or even remotely able to sustain its population, for civilian Martians is conquer Mars or die, but she can't see it. She refuses to, because as a princess she should know. She should have received an education, but no she's an idealist and sides with earth. Not to be dramatic but being so idealistic in such a dark situation is a luxury that royalty can't effort. She's effectively betraying her country men, making all their sacrifices empty.
They are both extremely selfish, and honestly off with their heads. Being royalty doesn't mean just wearing pretty dresses, it means sacrificing for ones people and making difficult decisions. Neither do any of it, lemrina is justified because she was raised that way, but Asylum is not, she has a duty to Mars first and to herself second and ignorance is a sin.
Over all this was an assassination of potential, because the Narrative doesn't punish either of them and over simplify the issue they been building on. Gods I hate it In here. I think this was the episode where they told the writers "you have to wrap it up quickly"
Of all the scenes in Aldnoah.Zero that won’t ever leave me, Slaine screaming and crying for Asseylum when he sees her in the tank for the first time is the one that will be in the back of my thoughts every day for the rest of my life.
