1. Gaetano Pesce , La mamma , 1969
His desire was to probably have a seat which envelopes you as a mother does and have a desire to be doused in maternal, feminine care and embrace again. So through this desire he was able to design and construct the chair. Albeit not very popular, it has left a mark on art history. It inspires one to carry on with ideas and experiment with them and make things that originate from desires.
2. Book: Think and Grow Rich. Napolean Hill, 1937, Random House, NYC
If what you desire is thought of as already a fact, consistently, intensely contemplated on, it will end constructively leading you to become great like Roosevelt or Edison. It reminds me of the "Secret" book where it speaks of the things you can achieve if you believe in your desires in coming true, how it releases a channel of unseen energy and how that can come to you anytime in the future. In a sense it's like the saying of a bible that only those who help themselves will be granted.
3. Vocaloids
our desires to never die, our desires to never change or fade away or lose (physically) is consoled through vocaloids which are attempts to fulfil the desires. Through Vocaloid's, an entirely new genre has been made which I see as constructive desire. Even if it's not perfectly what people have envisioned it to be, it is on of the stepping stones and core foundation research in creating a never ending artificial singer in the virtual world. Forever 16 and cute, Miku Hatsune (the first vocaloid) is also aesthetically the desire of many men and women.
4. Le Petit Prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, 1943, Gallimard, France.
This book deals with a lot of philosophical themes and the desires expressed in this book are so beautiful. The problems with the world and the little prince wanting to go back to his own star, his desire to look after the rose on his planet and the sheep in a crate business he asks the man to draw for him, they are expressed in such ways that makes you melancholy and yet contended. It's hard to understand such desires of the young prince but they build up to the point where he trusts the snake and its poison to bring him back to his planet... It's inspirational, to think and create in ways that are unlike an adults and to see that we desire what we lack but the process is fulfilling and constructive.
