*sigh*
#assuming sexuality anon#I already talked about this#but look#assumptions are perceptions#perceptions are socially coded and read#so the argument of not assuming homosexuality or heterosexuality would work if you live in a utopia#where Cis-Heteropatiarchy doesnt exist#if people dont read you as queer they by default gonna assume you are cishet#sexuality and gender as much as other identity keys are everywhere#in the sense where everything you perceived got to be placed in these schemes#so for example#if you don't perceive someone as a woman or a man not perceiving their gender#is a gender perception in itself#and perception comes also with power and privilege and access and status etc etc#so you cant just put cishet perception of someone in the same level of perceiving them as not cis or not het#its like you look at someone who is blantly queer#screaming at you and you go oh no i don't wanna assume you re that#because i think assuming people queer is disrespectful as much as assuming they are het#cis het people don't have marginalized identities they don't need normalization or social approbation for their existence#queer people need that they dont have a normative system that get them to not be in a constant processus of proving the realness of their#identities#so hence telling someone who is clearly queer coding that you prefer not to read their coding as queer nor 'cishet' at all you re not being#that aware or morally superior#you are just let the cishet normative system absorb them and invalidate them#also when another queer person tell you that that particular person might be queer#their assumption is not by default its not something they just assume out of internalized normative systems#but they queer read and they relate to it#hope im clear
