It’d been weeks since their argument. If there was something Draco was good at, it was holding a grudge. But he couldn’t help the tinge of JEALOUSY that pinches at him as he begins to notice Astoria spending more and more time around other men. His gaze would cross her newest boy from across the table in the great hall, as if to challenge him. 

He knew Astoria was doing this just to aggravate him. Why else would she be caught with him in nearly every common space they shared. Corridors, trips to Hogsmede. His only saving grace being the Slytherin common room.

“&& who’s this? Your new boyfriend?” He interrupts the couple in the corridor, not minding the scene he was making as if the other wasn’t standing right there. Smart of him it was opting to flee the scene, leaving Astoria and Draco alone for the moment. Draco had only told a couple of Slytherins about his newfound alliance, but that didn’t mean the RUMORS shrouding his name were any less intimidating.

“...really great pick. His pure-blood status is nearly just as tainted as the Weasley’s. Honestly, if you’re trying to get a rise out of me I would have thought you’d at least pick someone in Slytherin.”

      “astoria....” he whispered, standing in the courtyard beneath the blanket of stars, just behind her as she had her back facing him. fingers reached out and he couldn’t help but hesitate, hoping that she wouldn’t FLINCH at his touch. finally, their skins touch and he forgets to breathe, forgets how to do anything at the sight of her. “i’ve missed you....” // @astcriiia

               nothing but DARKNESS and heavy regret plagued his soul since the day the dark lord was defeated, and the wizarding war brought to an end.     he and his parents were granted a reprieve, but even still, everyone looked upon them with wariness and SUSPICION, as if they were just waiting for the former death eaters to put one toe out of line.     it didn’t take much for the SACRED twenty - eight to revert to their usual and elitist ways, but even being surrounded by nobility, a prospect that once DELIGHTED him, he drew into himself and drowned in his own guilt.     in fact, he loathed having to be a part of these stupid gatherings.     they all seemed to move on, but draco couldn’t . . . he felt rather lonely, until he met ASTORIA. 

               of course, he knew of her during their school years, ALBEIT he knew her older sister better, but he NEVER thought of making her acquaintance.     but once they made formal introductions, something came back to life within him, his soul REJUVENATED, for she did not look upon him with a suspicious gaze like so many others did.     it all seemed to move rather fast after that, and after he made his DARING declaration, his insides were churning with nerves.     her response was met with shocked silence . . . but then, the faintest of smiles tugged at the corners of his lips.     ❛ truly ? ❜     he questioned, as if he couldn’t BELIEVE the words, at a loss of anything else to say.

__________ ♔     JEALOUSY  IS  NEW  TO  THE  YOUNG  GIRL  WHO  IS  MORE  USED  TO  BREAKING  HEARTS  THAN  FEELING  HER  OWN  TUG  WITH  SOME  SEMBLANCE     of what she has   long  believed to be a weakness     ( nothing but a bit of  FUN   to pass the time in these stone walls they call a school.      after all,     love had  NEVER   played a part in her parents’ union      …     why should it play a part in hers come the future  ?? )      yet,       with leveled blue gaze finding his  &&  arms crossing against her chest as if she can use them as  SHIELDS   for whatever is to come next,         she feels color paint itself across her cheeks       from  anger  or  embarrassment  she  cannot  truly  say     ❛  it certainly did not   look   as if that was  ALL  !!        don’t worry about it though,     you   don’t owe  me   an explanation.  ❜     words sharp,     cutting like a  KNIFE   in her attempt to brush off the  HURT   she so acutely feels.     you  can  never  lose  one  who  was  never  yours  in  the  first  place  silly  girl  !!

It wasn’t his INTENTION to upset the younger Greengrass. He hadn’t even realized she was WATCHING. They had never really defined whatever it was they were. Draco hadn’t thought twice about kissing somebody else. He was simply...playing the field, as muggles would call it.

He could admit, that seeing her upset...angry...agitated him. It hurt to know that it was HIS FAULT. But instead of admitting any of this, he opts for a defensive approach.

“You’re right. I DON’T.” He says, taking a step toward her. His icy gaze pierces through her, hiding any emotion he could have felt for her deep inside of him. If Draco had any true FEELINGS for Astoria, they were hidden from his eyes. 

“...perhaps...” He started, his tone cold && cruel. As if mocking her. “...you ought to tell me...why you’re so concerned...with who I’m kissing, h m?”

All the while he’s stepping closer, cupping an icy palm to her pallid cheek.

            His power fluctuated with each life, he remembered that at least. And he knew that, in this life, he could hardly muster up enough magic to matter. Which he figured was why Morgause hadn’t come knocking yet. He could live with that. Didn’t mean he wanted the reminder. “Look, this isn’t like some book. I’m not here to listen to your problems. Do you want a drink or not?”
