Smokey the Cow Horse. A horse novel. None of the illustrators for this book ever depicted Smokey as he was described. The horse is from an original drawing of a quarter horse by Don Bolognese I traced. Would have preferred to have sketched it but my pencil is broken and I have to hold the lead in my hand. Smokey was not a quarter horse but I thought Don's drawing resembled Smokey enough.
