Aster's Legacy Attire
The one on the left is his Legcay Day outfit, and the other is his normal clothes. I wanted to get more detailed with the shading, but ended up being too lazy.
So here's some flat colors for ya. I know LD outfits are supposed to be more modern with a mix of royal, but I was yearning for the prince-poofy-sleeves thing. C'mon EAH! Get with my program here :I
I went a little OCD with Aster's LD outfit: He has seven buttons on each side to represent him and his siblings, each button is actually designed as a yarn ball, signifying the yarn his father used to find them in the middle of the night. His crown has six pointy (I don't know what you would call it;;) arches, for each swan, and around his neck is a starwort (it's actually a painted metal) for the shirts his sister will have to make for them to return to human form. Both of his crowns have etchings of flying swans on them. I thought about this too much;;
EAH OC Aster Swan
A little nervous about posting this, but what the hay?
Ever After High Profile Aster Swan (No relation to Duchess Swan) Royal Parent's Story: The Six Swans Parent: The youngest son of the king (unnamed) Roommate: ((OPEN)) Secret Heart’s Desire: I want to change my destiny. I--I don't know if the term 'Rebel' is one I'm fond of, after all, it's caused a lot of division between the kids at EverAfter and so far it's been nothing but trouble. Still, the possibility to live my life as I choose--well, it doesn't matter either way. I've already pledged my destiny, might as well not linger on what could have been.
My “Magic” Touch: I have this strange 'bird's eye view'. If I close my eyes I can see from an aerial viewpoint in my mind; to put it simply, I can see places from above as if I were flying over them looking down, but even with my eyes closed I can also see where I'm going. It's a bit freaky to say the least, but it comes in handy from time to time.
Storybook Romance Status: I'm not really looking for love, but I wouldn't mind a peck or two from a girl before I have to actually peck for things. "Oh Curses!" Moment: Every night for a couple of minutes my left arm turns into a swan's wing. I'm embarrassed of it, and avoid going out late at night because I don't want anyone to see it (If I do I usually wear something to cover it up). I even hide it from my roommate by tucking it under my pajamas! Ugh.
Favorite Subject: Believe it or not, Dragon Slaying. I'm not very athletic per-se, not even close to Daring, but my bird's eye view really helps me to pinpoint a dragon's location before he can make an attack. I know some feel bad about killing a dragon, but I say that if it's trying to kill me, then it's fair game.
Least Favorite Subject: Arts & Crafts. An artist, I am not. Nothing more to say about that. Best Friends Forever After: I'm usually very close to my siblings, especially my brothers, but I would have to say that outside of the family ((OPEN)) is a pretty great friend. Quote: “Pure selflessness is the ultimate sacrifice." --- I'm going to add more since I didn't want to cram up the template bio. ((I really wanted to create a character who at heart wants to be a Rebel, but through sacrifice for others, finds himself unable to; I had skimmed across the Six Swans tale a long time ago and just remembered how sad it was for the youngest brother to have to stay a swan while his other brothers turned into humans (in most versions he just loses a left arm, but I've chosen this version for several reasons). I also wanted to explore the question: 'can you change your destiny after pledging to it?', now I know that because it's a kid's show they may simply allow that, but looking at it from a more challenging point of view, when a character pledges to their destiny what they're actually kind of doing is sealing in their fate (which is what Raven had a big issue with); hence what the key signifies and all that. So can a person whose already said yes to something, regret it terribly a couple of minutes afterward, or worse yet, always known that the decision they were going to make was one they were going to regret, but made it anyhow? )) Aster is torn between his loyalty to his family and his heart's desire. On one hand, he is repulsed by the idea of having to end up a swan for the rest of his life; he wants to be able to enjoy himself while he can (having that Briar mentality), but he finds it difficult to do that when he knows his time as human is counting down with every passing minute. On the other hand, becoming a Rebel is not on the agenda; he doesn't have the courage to change his destiny because he's even more petrified of the uncertainty that comes with rebelling. Especially since it's his very family who is tied to his story. What if not pledging means his brothers are left as swans? What if his sister is burned at the stake instead of being saved? And what of his future nephews? These doubts are far more engraved in his conscience than his wish to be free from fate. He believes that by taking the short end of the stick, he's saving his family from potential danger/grief. This is a burden he carries by himself, seeing as he doesn't feel that he can confide in the very people he's protecting. His brothers go about merrily, already having plead to their destinies; in fact, the topic isn't generally discussed by the family. It's what comes after the story that's important, because there's no use in talking about something that's bound to happen either way. Plus who is he to complain? His sister has to go through far worse before she gets her happy ending. How dumb he would look crying over something so mediocre, especially when the girl of the household doesn't shed a single tear over her own obstacles. But that doesn't make his family bad people.
As much as he would like to, he still can't turn a cheek to his emotions that easily; suppressing his fears has lead him to have a lot of pent up anxiety. He has reoccurring nightmares where he sees himself becoming engulfed with feathers or morphing into a giant swan, causing insomnia and fatigue; his look on life is almost meaningless, and having to put up a constant front has led to spurs of loathing, either towards himself, his family, or those around him. He can sometimes snap at little things. Still, he tries to be friendly whenever possible, and his classes and friends keep him distracted enough. He likes to take part in events, and watch his friends enjoy themselves. While his destiny is somewhat of an eerie obsession for him, he doesn't let it stop him from doing everyday things like everyone else.
---Just realize I drew the wing on the wrong arm;; darn you part of the brain that makes me question myself o no
