Toysmith Light Up Asterix Ball
I recently got this ball and thought I would do a review. The nubs are hollow and when pinched feel like a very soft chewable, though it’s is not for chewing. It has a rubbery texture similar to many toys of these type.
I stim with it primarily by rolling it between my hands or up my arms for a massaging type effect. I also like fiddling with the nubs and pulling them back and letting them flick back to place.
The ball does light up with bright flashing lights but you do have to hit it fairly hard to make it go off. I don’t think it would go off accidentally unless dropped. It can also be used as a regular bouncy ball.
One con is that it does attract dust and hair but can be rinsed off without making it sticky.
I received it as a gift so I can’t comment on shopping experience but did find some places where it is sold:
The Land of Nod - USD $4.95 shipping, $5.00 US only.
Explore Your Senses - £3.95, free shipping within UK.
eBay - USD $ 3.95 shipping, to US $ 2.95. (Also ships to Australia and Canada USD $ 10-14.)
Please feel free to edit for clarity or formatting :)
Thank you so much for your submission, @dottythefishy!
I love the look of these balls, and I am glad to know that it takes some force to make the light flash, as that makes these much safer for general stimming. I didn’t realise the nubs were hollow, though!
Thank you for doing the rinse test for us, too. Since puffer-plastic-type toys can be prone to water-caused stickiness, I really appreciate knowing that this toy doesn’t have that problem.
